NOTES: This is meant as a prologue to an AU fic I've been turning around in my head for a few months now, so it starts canon-compliant and then goes AU. But in the highly likely event that I never get around to writing that fic, this can be a standalone as well. I want to give huge thanks to archon_mentha for all of her help in making this not horrible. Also thanks to momebie for giving it the final stamp of approval. This started as a birthday fic for jillenhall, and has become a slightly belated Valentine's Day/Lupercalia fic for everyone!
