Shoe stores with a bit more style
This weekend I'm going shopping for a lot of new duds. As I rarely go on such shopping excursions, and my knowledge of retail locations is thankfully sparse, I ask you for help. What are some good close-in locations for the purchase of awesome shoes? I remember seeing some rather unique selections at that place next to Backspace downtown. You guys have any more recommendations for stores with awesoe shoes?

I dunno, what do you consider awesome? I'm looking for recommendations mostly based on the fact that "awesome" is pretty subjective, and everyone has their own definitions. Meaning, I want variety, and seek those different viewpoints. Suggestions?

Usually, if I'm not in Danskos I am teetering around on some ridiculously high heeled contraption. I may not be of any help in pointing you in the right direction.

What kind of shoes qualify as awesome? I'd personally think like, strappy high heels, but you might be more of a Doc Martens kinda person...

Personally, I love the styles at Switch shoes in Multnomah Village. It is worth checking out, even if it is not necessarily "close in". They are quirky and rad, imported. They've got awesome socks and other accessories too.

I dunno, my opinion of Johnny Sole sorta went away when I was looking for something like this, but they sorta looked at me funny and said they didn't carry shoes like that.

Their dude shoes are kinda lame.

If you're looking for totally crazy-wack imported Japanese sneakers, try Just Be in the Chinatown-thingy.

...If you go to the bottom of the Baddoll site, there's a link that takes you to Oddball shoes, where they have shoes size 14 and larger.
