Need a stylist
So I went to the search option and it doesn't return anything (then again, I can't seem to get it to return results for any phrase I put in there). I have hair down to my waist and I'm looking to get it cut and styled. I'm in need of a good stylist who will cut and style and maybe even color. Also, while I am not wanting to spend an outrageous sum, I also am willing to pay for someone who is good. I would prefer something on the west side since I live in Beaverton, but if you know someone who is really good, then I'll take it.

I hate to be another one of those "Where can you find this" people, but as you might guess from the fact that my hair is down to my waist, I don't get it cut often.

Thanks!

One of my friends and I (who both have very long, coarse, naturally wavy Hispanic hair) go to Lindsay Garcia at Ziva Salon on NW 23rd. She's younger and just starting out so I love to support her but she's also very good and very receptive. I'm one of those long-haired people to whom cutting off more than an inch is A LOT, but my hair turned out great. I also had her do my colour. It's been a while and I've since moved to Seattle, but I seem to remember it coming to around $120-140ish for cut, style, and colour. And I think I had her put two colours in.

If you see her, tell her Veronique sent you!

A lot of people recommend Bishop's barbershop in downtown. I've had good experiences there, and have recommended a lot of people go to a stylist there named Lilly. I believe that Lilly has moved to their NW location.

They're fairly inexpensive; I think a cut is somewhere around $20. As far as color, they sort of specialize in punky counterculture creativeness.

Plus, you can have a beer while you're there. Big bonus.

Bishop's is inexpensive and punky, but I've had a lot of bad haircuts there. (My hair is super short, so if I don't like it I just go home and "alter" it with nail scissors. But I don't know if I'd send a skittish, long-haired person there.)

honey - why don't you ask me these things first?

you want to see sara at mister james on cornell and barnes. she is really sweet, and really listens to what you want (which i think is a very good quality in a hairdresser).

What kind of cash does mister james ask for a cut?

i would assume that each stylist has different rates. i get a trim (i have long hair) and an eyebrow wax (just the middle, not shaping) for $20, from sara.
