Food cravings
What restaurants in the Portland area (including surrounding towns) have food good enough to cause you to crave them? Tell me all about it. I am dying to find some places around here (I am in Hillsboro but surrounding areas are fine) that are crave worthy.

Also, some specifics that I would love input on:

Best place for a breakfast burrito (and what is in it)

Best place for fish tacos (and what is in it)

Best place for breakfast (what are your favorite things to eat there for breakfast)

But please don't stop with just these...let's talk food...let's talk crave worthy food!!!

Cute little bird eggs + discussion of "crave worthy" food = slightly disturbing.

Just to get it out of the way... Shari's. They've got good ice water!

I should warn you, there is always a wait, and sometimes this means on the benches outside. There is self-serve coffee inside so usually the crowd outside all has coffee to keep warm. Not as much fun when it's below freezing outside, but the food is always worth the wait.

Breakfast Burrito - The PSU campus Saturday morning farmer's market. It doesn't open again until March I think. But I crave them all winter long. They contain potatoes, cheese, eggs, green chilis, homemade salsa, bacon for extra... all organic.

Fish tacos - Por que no, on N Mississippi Ave. Seriously the BEST fish tacos.

Breakfast - I really like breakfast food, so I tend to be pretty satisfied whereever I go. I like the vegetarian sausage, biscuits, and gravy at Cup and Saucer. And I like the Beaterville Cafe on N Killingsworth. Don't remember the name of the dish I usually have but it involves eggs and black beans and sour cream.

Other places I crave:
Pambiche (cuban)
Swagat (indian)
La Costita (for a particular chile rellano burrito thing)

Now why didn't I know about those when I was on campus for the past few years. I will check em out this spring.

And Pambiche is wonderful, I agree.

For breakfast, I usually hit Bertie Lou's in SE where I usually get the croissant french toast with fruit or a benedict florentine with spinach on top of a croissant. (And I wonder why I have cholesterol issues...) The Stepping Stone Cafe in NW is also fun. They have something for everyone but one of my favorites is the cinnamon roll french toast.

The other big craving restaurant we frequent is Sushiville on NW 23rd. They have plenty of non-raw-fish items to choose from and provides instant gratification when you can just take food straight from the moving track.

We should have you over for breakfast sometime! :-)

The Thriftway by you often has challah bread you can turn into yummy french toast, or sometimes they also carry really good cinnamon swirl bread. :-D

I just remembered I was supposed to send you some recipes...sorry about that.

Be Warned...Sushiville is subpar at best in my opinion. My opinion shouldn't matter other than I know four different people who have all had lovely bouts with food poisoning after eating there.

okay, long list: k2 kebab (just had takeout, the onion naan is orgasmic), dim sum at wong's king bbq, the ropa vieja and the arroz con pollo at pambiche, biscuits and gravy at screen door, any breakfast at the tin shed, the malaysian fried rice (with ketchup!!) at malay satay hut, spicy fries and the patty melt at dots, thai roasted chicken at pok pok/whiskey soda lounge, the spaceroom's chipotle bloody mary, apizza scholls, the udon at hakatamon by uwajimaya in the tron (housemade!), the cup and saucer's scones. i'll probably post another comment when i think of more--when i reviewed my bank statements from last year while doing my taxes, i realized i spend the majority of my income after rent and bills on food. ha. hedonistic much?

Breakfast burritos and breakfast in general:

Black Bear Diner
http://www.blackbeardiner.com/
13435 SW Tualatin Valley Hwy.
Beaverton, OR 97005
(503) 646-4507

It's hard to name one thing that's better than others. (Ok, I wasn't so thrilled about the Eggs Benedict, but that's because everything else is so DARNED awesome.)
Breakfast options include: steak and eggs, 3/4lb chicken-fried steak & eggs, Portugese Linguica and eggs, best omeletes of all types. Their coffee beats anyone else and their orange juice is fresh-squeezed, not from any concentrate.
If I'm eating out anywhere near PDX, I drive to Beaverton for Black Bear.

For breakfast I love the Oringal Pancake House on sw 24th and Barber, their apple pancakes are my favorites with sautéed apples and a rich cinnamon sugar glaze, yumm!

I also crave indian food from India Grill on East Burnside and 29th, especially their Murgh Mazhedhar and gralic nan!

Hillsboro: Muchas Gracias. (breakfast) Chorizo Burrito- it's scrambled eggs and chorizo- a tasty, spicy Mexican style sausage. I like the carnitas and carne asada too.

Beaverton: Biscuits Cafe: good breakfast. Their corned beef and eggs are grubbin'. Everything is pretty good. They're over by Costco on Baseline. (Their Chicken Fried steak kicks Black Bear's ass) Their gravy is obscenely good.

Beaverton: Jin Wah: Great dim sum and Pho

Aloha: Monkey Subs: 185th and Farmington- the only sub shop I know of that makes their own roast beef. Very fresh and very good.

Hillsboro: Go Go's Mongolian: go straight for the end of the counter and hit it with some cumin and a dash of curry powder- SO GOOD. I also crave their crab won-tons.

Beaverborosomewhere in BFE: Siam on 185th and West Union. Everything is good, but their soups and select stir-frys are killa.

Tanasbourne: Old Chicago- best pizza in town... just kidding they suck.

Breakfast: The Cricket Cafe on Belmont and 32ndish.

Habibi (Lebanese) on Morrison and 11th is delicious and cheap and India House next to it is my favorite Indian place downtown.

Annie's on TV Highway has awesome hot dogs, fries and malt shakes. I love them but rarely eat it because it's so greasy... but so, so good.

I've heard the Black Bear or Three Bears or whatever it is on TV Highway (by Hocken) is very good for breakfast. It replaced a Lyons so I assumed it was the same crappy type of place but apparently not.
