That's what I thought, but the original posted said it was a crazy price so I was hoping that maybe I'd heard wrong.

we've been speculating price on this phone for over a month now
kinda old news for us...

i'd anticipate over $400
and that'd depend on carrier as well, as many subsidize pricing...

It'll be available in June. 4GB version for $499, 8 GB for $599. Only through Cingular.

yes it is! are you kidding me?! You can get an 80GB iPod and a phone with pretty much the exact same features for less. In bundling products really worth that?

Hmm. Costs about the same as a Treo 700p (my current phone), with far superior user interface, and talks to iTunes.

Come to Butthead.

Might even be worth switching to Stinkgular when my Treo wears out/catches on fire/gets punted off a bus.

(I like my Treo a lot, but I think the iPhone is going to kick the crap out of it, and I'm tired of waiting for Palm to get their act together.)

$499 for 4GB and $599 for 8GB available exclusively through Cingular and shipping in June.

It is a combo phone and iPod and internet device powered on OSX software meaning a full version of the internet, not a custom dinky web browser most phones use at the moment. Plus, visual voice mail so you can hear any message out of order and an accelerometer for display which can tell if held in portrait vs landscape and will rotate it. No stylus or keyboard to bother with, just an enormous touch screen--snazzy!

They'll probably have a 16GB version by the time I can afford to spend that much. But I will definitely save up and get one as soon as humanly possible.

Goodie! It will come out just at my Cingular contract renewal time. I hope they offer an incentive deal, cuz I'd jump all over it rather than switching to Verizon in my current disdain and getting a Chocolate phone.

My Verizon contract ends in August.

I have until then to justify spending money and switching carriers. I think seven months is enough....

I think for all that it offers the price is great. Everytime I fly to my D.C. office I have the following:
iPOD
cell phone
blackberry
laptop
digi cam (not necessary but I have fun while in D.C. too)

now I will still need my laptop but to cut down on carrying other devices would be great as I have to make sure I have the chargers for each device and it just bulks up my carry on and lord knows I am prone to forget something of importance for any of those devices.
I definitely will consider buying one of these when they are available.

I've been thinking about that, and I would like more than 8 gb of music. (My tastes are eclectic...whaddya want?).

Having said that, with some clever smart playlists, I think it would be workable. I'd still have my 40gb iPod to throw in the car (or the stereo or whatever), but my day-to-day loadout would be much smaller.

That hardware looks bad ass.
