Online File Backup
So I may or may not have just dropped my lovely 320gb travel hard drive down a flight of stairs. As of right now it looks like it has survived the crash, though when I went and picked it up I had to kind of pop the parts back in place.

Currently it's still running, but it did force my computer into a blue screen of death once, and I'm worried that eventually it might just stop working altogether.

My question for you all is this: what is the best program online to backup my files? I have documents, pictures, music, etc. on this thing and would really like to not lose it. Free is preferable (duh), but I'm willing to pay if the company or whatever is worth it.

Please point me in the right direction before I lose everything!

Thanks in advance =)

I think I remember hearing once about a program that allows you to use gmail as on online storage medium.

There are a ton of web hosts out there where you can get a fairly good price for a good amount of storage. My web host (jaguarpc) is one of the spendy options at $9.95 p/m for unlimited space, but their service is outstanding.

for $60 www.megaupload.com will do the job.

For free, well, it will do very little of the job. Unless you have about 750 email addresses to use.

Don't you hate that feeling of knowing your computer or parts are about to die? My computer has been giving me a "hard drive" error for about two months. There are some external hard drives on sale at best buy - 250 to 500gb for around 80$. I am just going to do it and move forward before I lose everything!

after my external hard drive died, taking with it all my pictures from this summer's trip to Thailand, i learned my lesson. i use Mozy.com for backup and i've been happy with it. i recently used it to transfer all my stuff from an old laptop to my new one, and had no problems. it's $4.95 a month for unlimited storage. i don't think there's a better deal to be had.

back stuff up on two externals? store them in two locations if you want to be super safe, but at least if you generally kept one in a safe spot, you wouldn't have to worry about ruining both of them at once.
