Beeeeeeeeer.
I'm going home to Chicago for the holidays and would love to bring some locally-brewed beer for my brother. He loves IPAs and stouts, but he'll drink anything delicious.

What local beer would you bring to someone east of the Mississippi?

EDIT: http://www.bottletrek.com/ saved me! I ordered a bunch of beer from them and now I don't have to worry about weighing my bags down.

I'm still going to probably get some beer from Hopworks and Raccoon Lodge, but that should be plenty of beer to get him through the holiday season.

Per someone else below, Rogue is pretty widely available in the upper midwest. I trusted some recommendations from the young bearded fellow working the Belmont Station. Hopefully it won't put my luggage over the weight limits...

Second on the Rogue. Their stouts are wonderful. Actually, all their stuff is good. I'm fond of Brutal Bitter, Chocolate Stout and Dad's Little Helper. I've not tried everything there, though.

Bridgeport has the best IPA and is a great sustainable company to support.

I've actually been able to get Fat Tire in Chicago, so I'll probably not be bringing that home. Great beer though.

i'd throw in a ruby just for kicks, but only because it's my favorite and i'm determined to make everyone appreciate its greatness.

I love their ruby, but my brother really prefers not having a fruit flavored beer.

You can get Rogue in Chicago... I saw their fluorescent signs in bars all over the Loop when I was there last Sep. I'd recommend something that's hard to get outside the region... Terminal Gravity IPA, Hair of the Dog, Double Mountain IRA, Roots Red, or BridgePort IPA.

Wow, thanks for the Bottle Trek link! I had been wondering how to get some of my beloved Alaska Smoked Porter and now I just have to drive to Oregon City! You have made my day.
