Ushankas and ushanka style hats
So where in Portland, besides Andy and Bax and Columbia downtown, does one find a hat like the one pictured under the cut?

Ushankas and ushanka style hats like this one.

i was surprised to see them there.
this probably means they're trendy so if you're looking for function i'm not sure how well they'll hold up.

The Sellwood one has been there since at least 1998. I bought something there shortly after I moved up here in October of that year.

I've been meaning to do Batmankoff since 07. I ended up being lazy and being "industrial" batman.
Perhaps next year...

I ordered mine from soviet-power.com, becasue I wanted the real thing (it's a real Soviet Navy enlisted person's ushanka, which I loving call "The wearable couch of infinite awesomeness")

And believe me. It IS a couch. It's is upholstered like one and is so warm, it's more than quite capable of boiling brains at -70.

It was also all of $30, not including shipping (which was obscenely cheap).

I'll have to tell my mom ushankas are in vogue now; I bet people would pay premium for hand-made Ukrainian ushankas ;)
