things to do in northeast PDX?
so i live near 68th & glisen be the FM's and a coffee house called 7 Virtues. there's a pub i hung out at on thursday that's w/in walking distance (Biddy McGraw's). i'm still getting a feel for the area. if you have any suggestions of places to check out (other than cheesy sports bars) i'll take your word on it and check it out. anyway, i'm pretty damned open-minded and not very judgmental. i'm an artist/musician/hiker/etc so any one is welcome to contact me if they want to. also, i'm a vegan, but not anal or militant about it.

There's not too much around 68th and Glisan that I'm aware of. I've lived around here since 82...and not quite looking for places anymore. You may want to check out Coopers coffee at 61st and Stark; Bipartisan Cafe at 76th and Stark for coffee houses. Then there's Horse Brass Pub at 45th and Belmont. It's a bit smoky, but has a good atmosphere anyway. Darts are big. It's an english-style pub.

Bipartisan is my favorite. Awesome bagel sandwiches and pie. Great coffee and relaxed couch-y area.

I've been living in this neighborhood for four years, and there's some good things around

The Caldera on Stark and 60th, down the street from Coopers Coffee. They have good salads and stiff drinks. The decor inside is great.

Mt Tabor park has the best views of the city. It's my favorite place in town.

2nd on Caldera and Mt. Tabor. The best parts of living in this neighborhood! Coopers is run by the nicest guy! Their baked goods kinda suck but everything else there is great.

Also, the little area on Stark between 74th and 80th: Country Cat - great restaurant and bar, Academy Theater - $3 movies, pizza and beer, and the Montavilla Farmers Market on Sundays (for another few weeks, at least)

Not exactly something to "do", but you're really close to Bui's Tofu shop at 76th & Glisan and is chock full of yumminess. They have a lemongrass tofu (fried, and as far as I know is vegan) that I lovingly call "crack" since it's about as addictive.

Most of the restaurants between there and 82nd are rather uninspired, so nothing else I'd say is a "must do" there.

i wish i could say i get sick of tofu, but the stuff is so culinarily (is that even a word?!) pliable that it can taste like 50 different foods depending on how it's prepared. i will check it out the tofu-crack for sure.

There's also Knittn' Kitten, a used craft supply place on 75th and Glisan.
