Tub Ring
One of my old Favorite bands is playing in Portland soon.

That is, it is one of the only favorite bands I have ever had (I don't listen a lot lately, but I also don't have anything I listen to as much as I used to listen to Tub Ring).

Anyway, I thought I would post about it here and share the love a little.

Show info:ROCK 'N ROLL PIZZA

September, 5 2008 at Creature Feature, Tub Ring, Schoolyard Heroes, Toxic Zombie, Venicular Paranoia
11140 SE Powell Blvd, PORTLAND, Oregon 97220
Cost : $10 adv. / $12 door

advance tickets available through www.ticketswest.com

I used to go see them in Chicago and Madison all the time. I think I saw them a grand total of twice after moving to L.A. And of course I *just* missed their last show in Portland, they played a week before I moved here. Which has been my luck for a while (they played in L.A. the week before I moved there, and in Chicago a week after I moved away).

Also, I am assuming that since it is a pizza place it is reasonably kid friendly (mine is almost 12 and loves Tub Ring). Is that a safe assumption?

rock n roll pizza isn't really much of a pizza place so much as a smokey dive bar that has a stage seperate from the bar to allow it to be an all ages venue. There was like a window to get food/drinks and earplugs from. You
ll probably need the ear plugs.

but i've only beem there once and it had to be at least two years ago now. Ymmv.

Oh can you take stuff from the bar into the venue portion?

I don't really recall seeing as I was under 21 at the time but if it's like other venues, like the hawthorne and roseland etc, you have to keep the alcohol in the bar area.

I was there for a show last weekend. Keep your kid next to you, don't let him use the bathroom and you can't even take cups of water out of the bar area. There is a food/drink buying area to the left of the stage but not many places to sit. The place has been sold. Supposedly will become a karaoke bar so the management doesn't seem to care too much about the place anymore. Especially the ladies bathroom. Ugh.
Also the stage is about 4 1/2 feet off the ground and it's standing room only. And the parking sucks so get there early.
