Short term rental or long term hotels or...?
I have no idea where to start looking or what to google. I need to think of someplace where my very upper-middle mother-in-law could feel comfortable staying for maybe as much as 3-4 weeks, but which wouldn't cost *too* much. She's comfortable, but between jobs. She normally stays at the Embassy Suites but I am guessing wouldn't want to pay to stay there a whole month. So anyone know of any nicer long term places, or know someone who is looking to sublet in the next couple weeks or something or...something else I'm not thinking of?

West side strongly preferred. She's going to need to be relatively close to OHSU. Anyone have any ideas? She totally would not stay in a backpacker hostel, lol.

I got a good rate when I stayed here on my initial "moving to portland" trip. She could ask them to give her a deal. The rooms have kitchenettes and are quite comfortable. They also allow pets, if she has those.

Don't fail to give Priceline a shot. I get hotels as low as $35 in that area from time to time, and I've used it to book a few weeks at a time.

i think there are some kind of short-term rental business condos near lloyd center. not west side... but maybe that's and idea.

I'm moving across the river in a week or two (I hope), and my lease here is up end of September...so it's quite likely this space will be paid for and empty. It's a nice but small studio in NW and I'd be completely ok with someone staying for the same rate I'm paying on a weekly basis. 'auderive' email.com gmail.

*empty meaning I wouldn't be here. Essential furniture could definitely stay.

When my brother was in college up here (Lewis & Clark = west side, yes?), we stayed at a Residence Inn nearby. This was many years ago (14 or so?), but I dimly recall it being clean and comfortable with kitchenettes and such things.

My dad used to stay there when we moved here from Wyoming and my sister, my mom and I were still in Wyoming.
