Video of the Day and First Love
Video of the Day

They should make this the official video for that song.

This song makes me wonder how many people still think about their first love. How long ago did you say bye to them? It has been 7 years for me and I think of my first love often enough.

Are any of you still with your first love? If so, amazing!

ETA: Also, for your amusement - Pugs Live!

Mine was Karen Phillips, back in the 11th grade. Let's see, that would have been, oh, 32 years ago!

Geezus.

She was a weird religious girl who stuck her tongue in my mouth at a football game. If that's not love, what IS? :)

My first love was 20 years ago, and she's in New York working as a photographer. We don't talk. I do think of her on occasion.

I'm pretty dead to mine, or at least he killed everything he was when he was with me (seriously, he's changed his name and everything) and I was part of that, so I don't even exist to him anymore. So, point being, I don't talk to mine either.

jenn. if there was any doubt that we should be bff, there's not now: tegan and sara is my favorite band everrrrrrrrr.

i met my first love in an AOL Weezer chatroom in 9th grade. we instantly clicked, met a few weeks later, and were together for four years. she moved to virginia two and a half years ago, but we still talk almost every week. <3<3

I'm still best friends with mine. Up until last August, she was also roomates with me and my current girlfriend. She wanted to move to Sellwood and have a puppy, and we wanted to move to NW, that's the only reason we aren't all still living together.

hahahahaha yeah no. Depending on yr definition of 'love' my first is either married and presumably with kids by now working as an administrative assistant in Bismarck, ND (and fairly religious) and I haven't talked to her in about 15 years, or she's married with 2 kids in Cape Cod and she got ahold of me a couple times because she was feeling isolated, then brought up some stuff that went down and I wrote her a long e-mail telling her my side of the story and leaving nothing out (including what I thought of her then-to-be husband AT THE TIME, now I don't care) and she's never contacted me again, even when a good mutual friend of ours died and I e-mailed her about it.

Every other story of love in my life is a fucking tragedy like this. See also

I remember my first bf and wonder where he is. It was a scandalous affair, he was a freshman, I was a senior *GASP*
I lost contact with him after I graduated high school because I moved far away. He was fun, cute and I hope he is having a wonderful life.

Mine was nothing special. I kinda talked myself into it, and it was over pretty quick compared to later loves. I was more annoyed when it ended. I almost feel like I was dating myself with this guy as a proxy.

My first crush was super intense though, with all the highs and lows and shivering under the covers from the memory of passing him in the hall; but it never went anywhere.

And he denied my myspace friend request.. so I guess that's that. :(

Mine was my best friend, and only really close friend, in high school. Unfortunately it was one of those things where she couldn't reciprocate and it irredeemably fucked the friendship over, over the span of a couple years. It made for a lot of good, cathartic emo poetry at the time, though. :D

I've never told a guy I was dating I loved him (although I tell it to my friends all the time), but when I was 16 I thought I was falling in love with this guy. We had a short but torrid affair that ended when I started panicking because I was only 16, and he was only 18, and he had our future laid right out: He'd move down, work as a diesel mechanic, I'd graduate high school and move in with him and work part-time and go to college then we'd getmarriedandhavebabies ACK. There were a whole lot of messy high school details involved but it was really just the panic. I wrote him a letter explaining I couldn't make any commitment, having just moved to a new town, and never heard from him again. That would be about 11.5 years ago. I didn't even have the guts to call him on the phone. I think about him occasionally, mostly just wondering if he married that one girlfriend and how many kids he has.

The other one was one of my friend's older brothers. I hadn't seen him since I was about 13, but one of my goals was to grow up, get gussied up, hunt him down, and have my evil way with him then marry him, but he died in a car accident, also when I was 16. Strangely, I do think about him a lot, but it's probably the tragedy aspect. I wouldn't call him a crush, though; I was too stubborn and determined to have him to bother with all the swooning and crying involved in crushes.

To this day, I have never felt as strongly for anybody as I did for either of those two (the second more so than the first), which is probably to my detriment. Anyway, good nostalgia! Now I can go sit in the sun and think about love :)

I think I'd still slap my first love senseless if he were stupid enough to appear before me right this minute. I'd slap him online if that were all I could get.

So give him points for being reasonably smart. He knows better than to make contact, and I'd lie on the MAX tracks at rush hour before I'd contact him. I've googled him once or twice but I never click on the links. I don't wanna' know.

I am still with mine but not in the traditional way. We met when I was 13, married when I was 18, we had a daughter in Oct 1972, and I lost him in a freak car accident a year later.... not a day does not go by that he is not with me. I still hear his voice in my head when I think about him. They say memories fade with time... the memory of him never has.

Cool animation. The music hurts my ears a bit, but I powered through it for the sake of the animation.

As for my first "love," that's an infinitely complex question for me to answer.
