Personal shredding service?
Does anyone know of a business in Portland that will shred an individual's documents on an as-needed basis?

Long story short: After moving to PDX, my husband and I have collected a giant pile of documents needing to be shredded. With my husband insisting that everything with our name and/or address be shredded coupled with the fact that we've put it off for so long, it's a job far too large for our small, personal shredder.

I turned to Google first, but I'm only finding the service for businesses.

Thanks, DP!

Local television stations often offer "free shred day" about quarterly. I did a quick google search and found that several just happened last week.

I too, have far too much in my possession that I keep missing these dates for.

Oh, wow. Thanks! I also just found that the Beaverton Police Department is offering free shredding on the 29th of March, but I'd like to get rid of it before then. Hopefully I can find something before then, but if not, March 29th it is!

It's a bigger company but Cintas up in NoPo will shred whatever you bring them. They charge by the lb but I remember their rates being really reasonable. They'll come pick stuff up if you need them to.

Free is obviously better, but if you need stuff gone sooner, this might be a good option!

that's what I need to do with mine. Just burn 'em!
I honestly don't even trust shredding my documentation. There are some dedicated people out there who will attempt to put pages together, tiny piece by tiny piece. Not that I have some huge assets worthy of someone finding out about, but I'm paranoid. I've had my identity stolen before and it's NOT FUN
