Car Accidents SUCK
So, I've been here for a year but haven't found (or even looked for) a doctor because I haven't needed one or wanted to find one. But last night my co-worker and I got in a car accident and we both woke up feeling lsuper sore and unhappy. For peace of mind, etc, we wanted to get checked out but also to avoid the E.R. Are there any walk-in clinics in Portland or Vancouver that you know of? I doubt it is anything serious but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

p.s. Car accidents suck!

I don't have a regular doctor either.

I went to Willamette Falls Clinic when I fell down the stairs. They are located out in Clackamas, just off 205. They guy I saw was great and my insurance covered it.

That's where I went too when I was rear ended each time. I would ALWAYS go to the doctor after any car accident, that's what insurance is for and it's always good to be checked out for free. I ended up having an atlas dysfunction (my first vertebrae was tilted from the accident! it still hurts but I went through so much physical therapy I got $9k in the end...)

i've been to the urgent care at the memorial urgent health clinic because it's open 24 hours a day
3400 Main Street
Vancouver, WA 98663
360.696.5232

NOTE: lots of places list that Legacy Good Samaritan (the one in NW PDX) still has an urgent care, it doesn't it's just an ER now.....learned that the hard way.

I don't know about you, but I would never go back to that urgent care ever again (the Vancouver one on Main St).

I went there at 2am with a 104 degree fever and a cough from hell. When they finally saw me two hours later (and I was one of two people there??) they weighed me, took my temperature and blood pressure, and looked in my nose. They then told me I had bronchitis and gave me antibiotics and sent me off. I complained I was having trouble breathing and they said, "oh, that'll happen."

Two days later with the same symptoms I went to my doctor who did bloodwork and took chest X-rays and told me I had pneumonia.

Doctor/xray/lab cost: $100ish
Urgent care cost: $400+

At another time, I had a good experience at Willamette Falls Urgent Care... they were extremely thorough and actually seemed concerned for my health.

oh shit, that's crazy. i had to go there one time....i'd been sick for nearly a week (and i never get sick so i was not sure what to do or what it was) and finally around 3am i managed to drive myself there....they gave me antibiotics and i felt better within a few hours.

that really sucks you had a bad experience there.

Agreed. SW Washington Medical Center is a ripoff.

I had a good experience at this Urgent care last time I went. I was in and out in under an hour, and it was busy. There was at least 10 people in the waiting room and it was around 5pm.
I went in, got my prescription and managed to laugh with a couple of nurses.

They even billed my insurance correctly which almost all doctors never do.

The Outside In clinic downtown is very affordable, and provided me with decent care when I sprained my ankle last summer. Not an incredibly complicated problem, but it sounds like yours isn't either... I take it you don't have medical insurance. (What about car insurance? Did the person who hit you give you their information? If so, that coverage might extend to you if you need serious medical care as a result of the accident... of course, getting money from insurance companies is a full-time job, but it's a thought.)

Go to the ER - if you're worried about the cost, it'll be covered by the PIP coverage on your (or their insurance policy).

Document everything, including doctor visits, and medications, and remember that reasonable medical expenses will be covered by PIP.

Ugh.. It must be car accident season. I was hit on Jan. 26th. I went to Providence Urgent Care and had a pretty good experience. I have also been going to a VERY good chiropractor. If you are interested in more information message me.

I would've recommended you go to the ER.. but eh.

I go to one in Hillsboro, because I'm lame like that. :(
