Yeah, I know what state Portland is in, but here's a message for all of you in Vancouver!...
Washington is conducting its Democratic caucus today, which will decide how the delegates from Washington will be allocated to choose the presidential nominee!
Your local caucus begins today, Saturday Feb 9, at 1 pm. If you do not know where your caucus location is, please visit http://www.wa-democrats.org/caucusfinder for details and directions.
Please note that the Caucus today is *NOT* the same thing as the primary on February 19th, and the only way you can show your support for Barack Obama is to caucus today! Please let your friends and neighbors know this as well!
Please note that the absentee ballots you may have received in the mail are for the primary, and not the caucus! You MUST attend the caucus to select a candidatefor the purpose of allocating Washington's delegates.
Caucusing is easy and fun, especially if you bring a few friends along! The caucus is basically a neighborhood meeting, and there are no absentee ballots, so it’s important you attend in person. The whole process only takes about an hour, if not less.
The Democratic Party Caucuses begin at 1:00 pm sharp. The election of delegates cannot begin until 1:30 pm to ensure that latecomers won’t be excluded. If you must leave early, you will be able to sign in and have your vote counted.
IF NOT CURRENTLY REGISTERED TO VOTE, OR HAVE CHANGED ADDRESSES RECENTLY:
You can still participate, even if you’re not currently registered to vote. You’ll need to register at your caucus location on Saturday, February 9th, and you can change your voter registration to a new address at your caucus location if your address has recently changed.
IF REPUBLICAN OR INDEPENDENT:
You can still caucus for a Democratic candidate, even if you are a Republican or Independent. You will need to sign a pledge stating you consider yourself a Democrat for the purposes of the caucus before participating, but can change party affiliation anytime afterwards, such as for the Presidential election, if desired.
