Rock Band
So... am I the only person on here who doesn't like the game Rock Band? Particularly, I find the, ahem, "drum" part to be seriously annoying.

I've never played. I like Guitar Hero too much, even if I suck at it.

Yes. :)

Nah, I don't know about the only one. I'd doubt it though. There's pretty much always someone who is going to agree, regardless of subject. Personally, I absolutely love the game. It's hardly come out of our XBox since Christmas.

I'm curious though, what do you find "annoying" about drums? Playing them? The constant clack-clack? (Which I grant can be a little annoying.) Just the concept of having the drums in general?

The repetitive clack-clack, definitely. There's actual drums, and then there's the clack-clack. While the rest of the game just doesn't interest me one bit, I find the drums to be the only truly awful irritant.

I didn't like "those guys" in high school, either, who spent their school time learning to be the best gosh darned desktop drummers they could be. Clack clack clack...

Certainly the drums in Rock Band are more fun to play than to listen to. There are mods that people have made to the controller to quiet the drums, or you can modify your playing (not hit the darned thing so hard) that will help a little bit. In truth though, if you're playing and you get into it, the clack-clack noise just stops registering with you. (Or, at least, it does with us.) I guess your brain puts in a filter or while you focus on everything else.

I'd say to try the game, but if you have no interest then I suppose that'll never happen. Pity though. It really is a blast, drums and all. ;)

You're hitting them too hard, or the sound of your system isn't turned up loud enough.

Or, how about I said exactly what I meant, and it actually, honestly, truly annoys me?

Um, ok. I was trying to make some suggestions.

Sorry, I'm used to suggestions being phrased as such, and not as the matter-of-fact "you're doing it wrong" statements of your earlier comment. Forgive my confusion. Lol internetz.

Cowbell is played with the microphone. :)

I think there should be a cowbell mod. Some way to just stick a cowbell over the mic just for that song.

I love rock band and I especially love the drums. :P Although it does crack me up to hear the clack-clack from another room when you can hardly hear the song. I do think that my boyfriend's roommate beats those things really hard, though, and that contributes to it. I hit them much softer- I don't think you could hear me from another room the way you can hear her.

I am generally frustrated by the drums (usually I fail before I finish a song.) I like Rock Band better than Guitar Hero because at least there is the singing option, which is the easiest by far. Uncoordinated retards like me want to play too!

I find it interesting that people either find the singing the easiest or the hardest. While I'm a decent singer, I find it quite frustrating. I hate being told that I have to follow someone else's vocal flourishes!

I found similar issues with the other microphone games. I love karaoke, and am often told that I excel at it, but I always tend to suck at the singing video games. Don't know why.

The game sucks. So does Guitar Hero. I am very much alone with this opinion.

Everytime I even mention my distaste, people are like OMG YOU SUCK. It's pretty lame.

I guess I don't find pressing buttons on a fake plastic guitar fun, much like I never enjoyed Air Guitar, and never ever wanted to be a rock star.

Heh. I'd rather kill nazis =)

I like my rock band, but man that kick pedal thing is hard. I saw some workarounds for dulling the sound of the drums. I found the clackity clack sound to be annoying and I like to whail hard on the drums. My damn foot hurts from the kick pedal though. I've seen someone get a bunch of these cheap mousepads without the cushioned bottom and cut them into circles and put them over the drum pads.

The think I like about rock band is that 4 people can play it and it's not just guitars like guitar hero. Not that I don't like Guitar Hero also. I've been wanting to sing a little but jam on the drums as well.

Great stress relief for me considering that I am not musically inclined.

A trick on the kick pedal is to keep it down all the time. Then you just lift and step when you have to. If you keep your foot raised all the time, your shin will hate you.

Thanks for the tip! I'll try it out next time I play. Hopefully, I will be able to walk around normally afterwards.
