Call me silly, but how doesthis warrant an arrest? ? From what I understand from this badly written article [and those that came before it on the same subject matter] is that this guy was posting signs he made [and not necessarily covering something up with graffiti] on trees and electricity poles. I see stuff nailed to electricity poles all the time.

case in point

Does Portland police really have nothing better to do? *gasp*

I was a bit perplexed while reading this because brackets are traditionally used within parenthetical notation.

That trunk is kinda cool looking, though.

How the hell is putting up a sign...which can be removed easily unlike paint considered graffiti?!

Because cops are fucktards. They routinely arrest people for nonsense they know won't stand up in court. It's called "intimidation."

I can see how it would be conscidered troublesome on a utility pole, if the people need to get up there, but even then they can use their crane lift-y things...
I love it!

I guess they had to contract someone out to remove the graffiti [i.e. repaint the thing]. And since it was contracted out by the city, you have to pay the workers certified wages and they probably wanted the whole damn thing repainted as opposed to just repainting the one area where the graffiti was.
The entire bill probably came up to $3000 or less but we know how City of Portland loves to spend spend spend, so they probably blew the rest of the money on people to come out there and just take a look at it and give recommendations.....

I could be wrong!

this is all happening in front of Hirst's shark tank while Dash Snow is taking polaroids of the whole incident, only to accidentally bump into the tank, breaking it in the process and having the formaldehyde pour all over him and the weight of the shark finally suffocate him.

THAT is what I call ART!

I got this idea of an installation of a pile of dog placentas on fire that's being utilized by an electric turbine that is powering a scratchy record of the national anthem that is stuck in a locked groove on the part that is singing
" Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave"

I dunno. It's better than having them going back to beating us to death with "necessary police force" or strapping gorillas to their patrol cars.

"Community Policing" which seems to be the law enforcement buzzword of the decade would ideally have a cop stop by this guys studio and say "Dude, are these yours? Well do me a favor and take them down and don't do it again, ok?"

But there seem to be 2 types of people who become cops. Those that really want to help society, which wouldn't even notice this issue because they are working on bigger, more effective things. And people who have a chip on their shoulder and want to bully the rest of society. Guess which one arrested this guy?

From the story that was on the news last night, they said it's an issue because of the type of nails he used, which are huge and can cause damage to the utility poles, plus the expense of the city having to send people all over the place to remove said nails.

Fining the guy would make so much more sense, though.

Still, it's better then shooting him in 'self defense' 'cause he was pulling out a wallet or something.

Holy crap, you are the first person ever to ID it. Yeah, this is Trachelopytchus petersi, which apparently has a crapload of common names, and the Malagasy Plated Lizard is one of them. I swiped this picture off a German site, it shows a male, I have a female, they're not quite as colorful (more red, less blue).

I love me my little Madagascar native.

Hehe, I *hate* when I do that!

I remembered at an old job seeing them on an ordering sheet as "Madagascar Rainbow Rock Lizard" or somesuch lol. With a name like that I had to Google it. Thankfully they turned out to be just as nifty and pretty in real life...unlike the sandfish I got in about the same time.
