Irish music!
Hey DPers. The band I play in, Circled By Hounds, is recording our show at The Bitter End on Thursday! Come participate by getting drunk and yelling a lot! We're an Irish folk band, and if you're any fan of Celtic, Irish or Punk-Irish (Pogues, flogging molly, etc), you'll have a good time. There will be a squeeze-box, a stellar bohdran solo, and at least one fiddle-off. And of course lots of excuses to raise your glass, dance a jig, and cheer!

So, here it is in an easy-to-jot-down list:

Who: Circled By Hounds
What: Kick ass Irish music
Where: The Bitter End (NW 20th and Burnside)
When: Thursday, Feb 7th, 9:30pm
Why: It's free entertainment from talented local musicians!

And I have to work in the morning on Friday too, so no excuses.

Hope I see you there!

I can't be there, but I sooooo need to buy an album from you guys! Have any for sale by chance?

My Aunt is in a locally well-known (WV, SE OH, and Philly, PA) Celtic band in WV that does a lot of local historical events, and such back there. I miss them when I'm not out there visiting :)

Yep, definitely have CDs for sale. Also, recording a new one soon!

You can try CD Baby but they tend to be out of stock a lot. http://cdbaby.com/
Best way to get one is at a show! Myspace has the dates. :)

I may actually be at work, I work 24-hour on-call shifts. And I'm on call on Thursdays. If I'm not working, though, I plan to be there, sounds like fun! And since Alexander James Adams isn't playing anything local for a while, I'll need my Celtic fix!

We are a pretty excellent fix, if I do say so myself!

What is this Alexander James Adams of which you speak? Never heard of it, but that picture they have on their homepage is pretty inviting! Looks like I'd like it.

Formerly Heather Alexander, AJA is a local Celtic musician. He's been playing and writing original music for over 20 years. He usually has a gig every month (2nd or 3d Monday evening) at the Lucky Lab in Multnomah Village, but that tends to get off track in the first few months of the year. Heather's got about 13 albums out and Alec has gotten 2 of his own so far (well, "Wintertide" has a lot of 'duets' with Heather) and is already working on a third. There are many veiled references to Heather in Sci-Fi and Fantasy books, and she did two albums related to books, one using ideas and themes from the "Merlin's Descendants" series and one worked in with Steven Barnes' "Lion's Blood" and "Zulu Heart" books. Basically, awesome original music and quite a stage presence. :) You guys should totally check him out once he gets some local gigs going. And over at the CD sales section of the site, there are some audio files you can play from each of the albums.
