Windows Lesson of the Day
No, you do not have to click the "Apply" button before you click the "Okay" button. Clicking "Okay" automatically applies all the changes you have made.

Tha more you know!

I believe it is there to make changes as you go. In many programs, you can alter some settings and click apply, and often see those settings take effect. But if you're done, just click Okay.

In tech support, so many people ask "should I click apply first?" The answer is no, you don't need to. Just click Okay, and you're all set.

Yeah, its like if you right click on the desktop and then select properties, you can alter your desktop theme AND your screensaver AND your background, just click "apply" for each setting and then "ok" on the last one, cuz yer done.

...then there are people like me who compulsively click "apply" even if I know I'm done. haha..

For people who would like to more than just window shop their changes, but aren't really ready for the full commitment it takes to close the window that will let them change back when they realise it's a horrible mistake and nobody should buy pink balaclavas!

Only if it's pink argyle print. Otherwise, you'll look like you just stepped off of Sarah Michelle Gellar's bike.

like my gramma?

when i first got a computer i experimented with all kinds of things... i spent hours in the system files, program files, and settings. this kinda stuff became apparent pretty quick.

but there was the unfortunate side effect of accidentally deleting/altering a vital file, and having to reboot my computer. yeah, once every few months, without fail.

I switched my computer at work to the Windows Classic theme since XP's annoys me. You wouldn't believe how much this stymies people. The people in question are all old enough to be my mother at least and have therefore theoretically been around long enough that it to look familiar to them...

Then again I also set my mouse to redicu-fast sensitive setting to keep people from wanting to ask me to let them hop on my computer for "just one second"

I can't find the Okay button. Is it similar to the Any key? Do I need to buy me a new 'puter?
