And now the updates Court and I promised! First off, the new NC-17 rules, which I know some of you might not like. However, I'm going to take out the modhammer here and say that all three of us mods have discussed what we wanted to do with this at length, so we're settled on what we have here and won't allow any negotiation for major changes after this point. Sorry! :[ We tried to take into account everyone's opinions and came to the below compromises.

NEW NC-17 RULES

1) No players under the age of 18 may engage in writing or reading any NC-17 material. This is to protect the comm and to personally give us mods some peace of mind. From now on, all threads that are about to go into NC-17 territory must be moved over to damned_bedrooms, our new NC-17 comm with moderated membership. Any member 18 or older may join with a journal for a character 18 or older or with their personal journal, if they have no 18+ characters and still want to read the NC-17 material. We'll be double-checking both the age on your application and the age on your personal LJ (if public) to verify your age as best we can. Minors may RP "fade-to-black" situations where sexual activity is implied but not overtly written or stated, but all posts, even ones that only refer back to the encounter, can't be any more than PG-13 rated in terms of sex-related material. Note: We can't do much about NC-17 threads that have already been posted to the comm, so we'll have to live with those being only f-locked. :(

2) Only characters 18+ may be written in threaded-out sexual encounters. Characters 16-17 may, however, be written in fade-to-black sexual encounters. Pretty self-explanatory; we're actually loosening some restrictions on this one from the way things were during the big strike-through scare.

2) No sexual activity during the day, including fade-to-black situations. We know we've cleared it in past times, but after heavy discussion, we've decided that we just aren't comfortable with the concept. Kissing/nuzzling and PG-rated stuff is fine, so long as it's lovey-dovey and not sexy-sexy, but making out or anything more serious isn't allowed anymore. (ICly, orderlies/nurses will be paying much more attention to patients to stop those kinds of shenanigans, prudish people they are.)

3) We're going to officially (though tentatively) allow non-consensual sexual scenes. However, because we know this is an extremely sensitive issue that often garners controversy, a slew of restrictions come with this: a) No characters under the age of 18 may engage in a non-con encounter even PG-13 rated. b) The planned content of each non-con encounter needs to be run by the mods by all of the players involved in the thread and may only be played out if expressly approved by the mods (even if the scene in question is a fade-to-black or PG-13-rated situation). c) Our criteria for allowing a non-con scene to occur are that each character's role in it must be IC; the outcome of the scene must be productive in terms of you, as writers, having plans to explore the psychological/behavioral reprecussions that don't just involve angst; the perpetrator must be acting in accordance with their characterization and their motives at large. The mods reserve the right to deny any non-con encounter from taking place if there is insufficient planned character development to warrant it or if it seems OOC for any character involved. We also reserve the right to stop the scene mid-thread if it seems as if the plans given to us are not being reasonably followed. For those of you who are on the anti side of the non-con fence: The reason we decided to allow this was because of well-put reasoning brought to us by players which argued that we do already have strong language and disturbing, graphic violence going on, and that this would be another way to test a character's psychological limits so long as those limits aren't tested for the sole sake of angst.

NOTE: All NC-17 threads still have to be run by the mods, and though we won't be quite so strict about them as we will be about the below-mentioned non-con scenes, the same general sentiment of wanting characters to stay IC and not be RPing sex gratuitously still stands. We don't mean to encourage sexual activity with the new rules and new comm; we just mean to make things safer for the game.

Now that all of that (understandably) heavy stuff is out of the way: NEW SCHEDULE! It's oodles better than the last one (which admittedly sucked) since I uh learned how to do half-decent tables. Which took forever. BUT YAY ANYWAY.

ALSO, never fear! The Head Doctor will continue doing his ridiculous mouth-watering descriptions! I'm just happy because I don't have to think up food on the spot anymore and double-check to make sure it wasn't given out recently.

(I just think it'd look kinda shady to have minor character journals join there, plus it's also easier to double-check ages on personal journals ahaha.)
