I'll still be up for the Secret Santa thing, but it's for the best that I kinda steer away from the rest of damned for the next little bit. And I know I've been flailing about apping a second character since forever jerking some serious chains here, I know, but I'm going to put that on hold too. I think nestling myself further into RP like that and basking in the giddiness of new characters is just my way of making it easier to forget that I've put my real life on hold for a year and it's...wow, yeah, not healthy. At all. Embarrassingly unhealthy.

Hey! Quick question since I realized that Harvey and Jason are about to head into the hallway where Dias is currently collapsed. Even though the two are kind of bastards, they might notice him and think that they should do something (Harvey would flip his coin over it, at least; I don't want to speak for Jason), so how do we want to play this? I know that Anise, Celes, and Claude are heading up to find him, so... should we just do a timewarp and act as if Dias isn't there, or what?

This is such a minor question that I kind of feel weird posting it here, but it's come up, so what the heck.

Court already told me that, because he's brainwashed, "Daniel" can't see the ruins, and I'm assuming that this extends to other "weird stuff outside the institute" (like, if he and Lunge happen to meander into the forest at all, he won't see any of the destroyed-encampments-with-skeletons etc. along the river). I'm also assuming that the trees probably look normal to him, rather than withered (since the description alludes to the same decay as the Institute, which RL-evented patients are oblivious to -- I haven't mentioned the trees yet either way).

But! I really can't figure this one out: can brainwashed patients see the pervasive fog/mist that covers the landscape? This is peculiarly relevant.

(Also, please tell me if I have the wrong interpretation on any of the other stuff. orz)

I've seriously tried, but I've been struggling with Skuld for a LONG while and it's just time to let her go. She'll stick around at least long enough to make Tanaka's weapon, then quietly fade away. Apologies to the rest of the people on her list!

It's that time of year again! For those interested in participating in the Landel's holiday gift exchange, please fill out your information in this post! It's completely optional, but I think it was a lot of fun last year, so here's how it works:

I will be accepting participants up until DECEMBER 10th. On the 11th, I will send out emails with your assignments. You can check here in this post for some ideas of what your person might want (convenient, no?).

ALL entries are due by December 24th(that gives you about 2 weeks from the assignment date!). If you finish your gift early, I'd like to have them all presented in the cafe at about the same time, so please hang on to it until then! However! If you'll be going out of town/other holiday trips and such, please email me and I'll be glad to post some up for you(this is also true for anyone who wants to be totally anonymous in their gift, I will be happy to post it for you also). Send any anon/out-of-town-for-the-holidays submissions to pannon(at)gmail and make sure you include the name of your secret gift person! Even though these gifts are for individuals, I think it would be fun to share them in the cafe' so we can all enjoy some of the creative talents of Landel's members!

Gifts can be anything, fanart, fanfics, short animations, comics, a song you wrote, a special OST for their character, a month of bonus icons, etc, but please make it Landel's Damned-centric. Get creative and have fun! If you'd like to participate, fill out the info below the cut!

So, with all of the necessary journals having been prettied up thanks to the lovely Maia, the last item on the list is damned itself. Since we'd like this layout to be personalized and special, we decided to hold a community-wide layout contest over the month of December. (If a month seems like it's too short, then let us know and we can make it a longer time period.)

First of all are the requirements. You have to be a member of Damned in order to participate. In terms of the layout itself, we are going based off of the results on this poll. We have decided that the only two things that must be on the layout are 1) a link for posting to the community and 2) a sidebar with links. We suggest that anyone who plans to make a layout should read through the comments on that post to get ideas from the players and so forth. There are also some basic things like the usernames being visible, it being easy on the eyes, etc. Obviously you can't please everyone, but yes!

Other than that, we'd prefer that you avoided colors like red and black, since the layout we currently have has a color scheme like that, and it'd be nice to have something different. (You're certainly allowed to use these colors if they work out for you, though. It's just a suggestion!) It can have a graphic or not; just use whatever methods work for you to make a layout that fits the theme of the game. (However, you should try and avoid copyrighted photos!) It can most likely be paid or un-paid. It certainly doesn't have to be paid, but it can be if you'd like. (Although this might get confusing with the submission process. More about this later.)

The submissions will need to be emailed to us (damned.mods) so that we can post them up anonymously once the contest is over for the comm to vote on as a whole. (Any submitted layouts that do not fit the above requirements will not be included in the poll.) However, we would prefer if the layouts were sent to us as being displayed on a random test journal (as opposed to a screenshot), since we'd like people to be able to see how links look and so forth. Not sure how this would work for paid journals, however, since most people don't have random paid journals that they could host the layout on lying around, and we need to keep anonymity. We know that Maia hosted her layouts on a remote site for us to view, but... not sure how that works at all? We're kind of layout stupid, so if anyone has a solution, then please let us know.

And that's about all of the preliminary stuff! Anyone who is interested in participating in the contest can feel free to get started on a layout right away. If you are interested and have specific questions, it might be best to email or PM us with them so you don't give yourself away, and we'd like to ask everyone to keep it to yourself if you decide to participate, since we want to maintain anonymity as much as possible.

I wasn't sure about PMing you two about the NS plans so I figured I'd post here. If our plans on having Teisel/Todd, Forte/Frank and Sechs clash spend time together for this nightshift are still OK with everyone, I wanted to give ya the heads up that Sechs and Jason Todd are having their usual bonding times brawl out in the M51-M60 hallway and that you two are free to intervene now. xD

Which route are your two characters taking? You could probably have your characters hear the commotion once you get near the M-B block hallway and come in to investigate or something. Since Jason Todd has an appointment with another character, just drag Sechs off and let Jason be on his way. xD

Let me know if this works out OK or if you guys had something else in mind or whatever! =)

Post-Thanksgiving work ended up much more intense (read: soul-sucking) than I expected, and I need to take today (and possibly tomorrow) off from RP to...not die. Those waiting for Kristoph and Ange, I'm really sorry, but would you be willing to hold on a little longer? If not, feel free to continue on without me; I don't want to hold you guys up. As for the group Nigredo is in, just skip him for the same reason above. Assume he's been staring at Klavier and has yet to react to Albedo.

Do computers during NS turn on at all?

I think I've heard of/read threads where characters tried to do things with them, but I don't recall exactly nor have I do I remember any word of mod on the subject (unless I'm just fail and missed it being covered somewhere). Just curious as to what happens if someone tries to operate one: blank screen, creepy messages, or just a dead hunk o' plastic?

On top of these very hectic last two weeks before finals, I've managed to come down with a really bad cold. The combination of the crapton of assignments I've got due and not feeling well means that my creative juices are all but sucked dry at the moment. I'm going to be pretty slow until the weekend, and probably through finals. I'm also going to put Shinichi on hiatus for the rest of Nightshift, since he's the only one currently without plans, and I'm feeling extremely lazy at the moment. XD He'll be back come breakfast, though.

This effects Kenshin, Keman, Shinichi, and Ruby.
