Dayshift 36: The Chapel

[info]lady_general
They had been so close! Celes woke, furious with their inability to accomplish their mission. She hid her suddenly pilfered sword away with her other clothing, in the closet. When her nurse bustled in moments after she’d finished (thank all the Triad for that), Celes was more than willing to let the woman chitter away like an overgrown squirrel while the General dressed.

“Oh, won’t you be so very happy, Nancy,” the woman chirped. Celes raised an eyebrow and let herself be dragged along to the Chapel. “I won’t tell you why, it’s a surprise, you see. But, I’ll be you’ll be pleased as punch!” She left the General to herself after Celes seemed no more willing to help bolster the conversation. With an irritated sigh, Celes took a seat in one of the pews and folded her hands in her lap. She was a picture of piety.

Oh Triad, give me strength, so I do not choke my idiot of a nurse. She was worried, however. There were visitors today; would her surprise be in that horrid form?

Nightshift 35: Sun Room

[info]prevails
[ Moved. ]

Huh, weird. He'd expected something else when he entered, not really the same room as the day. It was darker, but nothing had changed; kind of made the room seem dull and disappointing. Yeah, he probably shouldn't have judged it like that when it might've been dangerous, yet he couldn't help it. From what he remembered the room was supposed to be dark and foreboding — not normal.

Goku scratched the back of his head. Eh, he guessed they couldn't all be spewing out monsters all the time, and he was getting a strange prickly feeling from just standing around.

It'd be better to keep up his guard, in case something happened.

Nightshift 35: F1-10 Hallway

[info]mizuhomaiden
Once again, Sheena ended up with a broken pen and ink stains on her hands. She glared at the offending writing utensil and then sighed. At least she had some spell cards again and she'd taken extra time to make sure they were done right this time since the ones she made last night had all mysteriously smudged come morning. She left the small amount of crumpled up paper laying on the floor as she ripped her sheet up and folded a long strip properly and then tied it about her waist, perfect bow in the back with the long ends hanging down (the way she liked it), fashioning an obi. It felt more comfortable and she had a better place to put her cards.

The summoner broke off a teeny tiny piece of fudge and wrapped it in it's own piece of paper to take along. She thought Tamaki might like it. With a grab of her cards, Sheena slipped out of her room to go collect Raine. She wondered if she'd run into Forte again. Then again, if Forte ran into any monsters, she'd probably hear him clear across the building.

Left led outside, further down the hall at least. Callisto reminded herself absently of this as she went the opposite direction. In the future she might see what all the fuss was about, but not now. The announcements only made her current target all the more interesting.

Okay, so the day more or less completely sucked. The only consolation Toph had was in regards to the conversation with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan and the upcoming meeting with Renamon for her file and possessions. That is, if she could even find the woman. Renamon never got a chance to tell her the location of her room; the staff had intervened too quickly.

Ironically, it was her nurse who provided a possible solution to the girl's dilemma. As the woman collected the remaining dishes and trays after dinner, she had mentioned the female rooms were stationed in one section of the institute. Which meant Toph only had to look through four sets of corridors as opposed to an entire building.

Perfect, she thought as she stepped out into the hallway. This shouldn't be hard at all. She may have to play the waiting game, but considering the traffic, Renamon would have an easier time spotting her in the adjacent area. Actually, wasn't that where they had first met?

Smirking in amusement, the girl moved down toward the bathrooms.

Which way was it, now? Out and down and around. Further into the facility. Who'd reach their destination first, Callisto wondered. Perhaps they'd run into each other along the way.

This really got the blood going. She still didn't know what was really going on with this place, but at least she had a goal for now.

[Nightshift 35] Main Hallway, 1-Center

[info]qui_gonjinn
[From here]

Qui-Gon stopped before the Sun Room doors to access the situation. Last time there had been guards in the Sun Room, no doubt to prevent patients from making it to the basement. He would have to be careful. Qui-Gon was competent with his knife but it was no lightsaber. There was a good chance he would have to make a break for it instead of a direct confrontation. With that in mind, he pushed open the Sun Room doors and stepped inside.

The patient corridor widened out as it hit the Main Hall. Patients were already moving about, his senses told him, but he was unable to identify who they were. Qui-Gon moved on in the darkness.

Day 35: Intercom, Evening

[info]damned_intercom
Unlike the week before, the buses pulled in to the front of the Institute before the sky became dark, and so the departure was a very organized situation rather than a chaotic one. Nurses and orderlies escorted patients off the buses, and just as the front doors to the Institute opened and the patients were taken back to their rooms, the intercom clicked on with its usual jingle to the sound of the Head Doctor's cheery voice.

"Hello, patients, and I hope you all enjoyed a delightful day at our neighboring town! I regret that last-minute duties prevented me from joining all of you on your trip, but I'm glad I can talk to you a bit now before you retire for the night!

"As far as dinner tonight, we have a wonderfully exotic meal of tasty, spicy lamb curry for you, served on a bed of steamed rice and with a side of seasoned vegetables and plain Indian flatbread. For desert, we'll be having sweet rice pudding, and we'll be offering our normal assortment of juices, milk, and water as drinks. As always, for vegetarians and for those of you with mild tastebuds, a large, fresh garden salad is always an option.

"And... I believe that's all! I hope you all enjoy dinner and that you're able to wind down from the excitement of today's excursion."

The intercom clicked off.

Day 35: Bus 3 (Return Trip)

[info]secret_orchard
Armand wearily climbed the steps of the bus. He was less tired than cold, but it made his limbs ache. He hoped they'd actually make it back to the Institute before dark this time. He hadn't seen either Citan or Morrison in town, so he kept an eye out for either one climbing back  into the bus. He still wondered if Morrison had been able to rest today instead of coming to town. Other than a lunch that he hadn't liked and meeting a new face or two, he wasn't sure at all what he'd gained by the day. Oh well, he was more than used to disappointment and failure.

Day 35: Bus 3

[info]full_score
Claude couldn't fight the sinking feeling in his stomach when he woke up. Nightshift was over, and they hadn't even made it into the basement. Man, how tough was that? Sometimes it seemed like the night could drag on and on, and when he actually needed the extra time, it went by too fast. It didn't make any sense.

Too bad he wouldn't have much to report to Ashton. But now the blond's curiosity was peaked, and he had to admit that he was pretty interested in finding out just what was under there. But first things first -- he needed a sword, because walking around there unprepared was probably one step short of suicide, really. The scars in his side were a stark reminder of what happened to people here who weren't ready to face the dangers.

Until that time, the Earthling had plenty of projects to keep him occupied. It really was too bad that they couldn't get anywhere, though. And when Ashton had finally let him borrow a sword, too...

The blond decided not to dwell on that for too long, especially once his nurse came to wake him up. She handed him the same set of clothes he'd worn for the last trip to Doyleton -- a dark, faded jacket, a blue, button-up shirt, some casual slacks, a brown paperboy cap, and a red scarf. He knew he'd have no problems staying warm today, and he didn't really look all that bad, but he kind of wished they'd given him a better pair of shoes than the over-sized sneakers that kind of flopped when he walked around.

As he exited his room, he caught sight of someone sleeping in the other bed, and while he'd never formally met his roommate before, Claude knew it wasn't Asch.

Once he'd boarded the bus, the blond didn't waste much time in finding a seat. There weren't many people here yet, so he opened up his sack and took a bite of his muffin. It was kind of sad how small the portions were for today's breakfast, but he was an adult, so he wouldn't complain about it. At least Landel bothered to feed them at all.

((For Sync, I believe?))

Day 34: Women's Showers

[info]himetsuru
There was one exceedingly good thing about going into the showers, Falis decided; she did't have to wear a shirt. Not having the irritating fabric rubbing across her acid burns was going to be wonderful. There was also one exceedingly bad thing about going into the showers; water on said acid burns was going to hurt.

Furrowing her brow in contemplation and staring at the empty shower room for as long as the vulture assigned to hover over her allowed, the bounty hunter decided the need to clean the residue from the alien she could still feel clinging to her body as well as the blood she knew was dried in the depths of her mane of blonde hair outweighed the pain she'd feel. The look then turned to a lazy smile as she remembered the last time she'd been in the showers. That was when she'd met Hokuto.

Carefulyl stipping the shirt off and, against the wishes of the nurse, the princess divested herself of the bandages, displaying both the moderate acid burns as well as the near foot long stitcched up gash on her right thigh, Falis grabbed a towel and limped to a shower more towards the back. The further away from the vultures, the better.

She hissed as the water (properly temperatured this time) hit her burns and she quickly drenched the towel in water and carefully laid the wet cloth over her left shoulder, covering most of the burns. It still hurt, but it was tolerable. Barely. One hand up against the wall to support herself, she let the water run over her head and through her hair as she looked down at the tiled floor trying to enjoy the feeling of having filth washed from her body.

Oh, look at that - the water was already tinged a dull red.

[Here, Hokuto, Hokuto, Hokuto...]

Day Shift 34: Sun Room

[info]atoyboxworld
[From here, waiting for his bff. ♥]

The walk with the nurse provided little more information; the woman still refused to go into detail on his particular diagnosis. She did reveal, however, that Near's name in this place was Nathan Ritter. Again he noticed the closeness to his real name, but given the woman's insistence on referring to him as either "Nathan" or "Mr. Ritter," Near decided it was safe for the present.

She'd revealed that he would be given a choice to where he would stay for that period of time. Despite her encouragement to choose the outdoor Courtyard, Near instead opted to remain inside. The large window overhead no doubt gave the Sun Room its name, and from the position in the sky, Near would wager that it was mid-morning and approaching noon. The room itself was lobby-like in appearance. Several doors lined the walls, which were painted a mild green--unsurprising, given the calming nature of the color. Accompanying pictures also seemed place to induce a sense of relaxation, completed by the inviting furniture. The only thing that seemed to contrast with the atmosphere, in fact, was the balcony above, on what was presumably the second floor. So the patients were to relax here, and at the same time, perhaps be watched by the keepers?

Interesting.

But clearly what held the most promise for Near was the large board hanging on the far wall. His nurse left his side after he came to the room, and Near approached what was clearly a place for communication and messages. The number of notices signified that it was well used, and the information within was fascinating. Near ignored the patients filing in around him for the moment, instead focusing on reading the various notices as quickly as he could. The information was quite extreme--different worlds, non-humans being forced into human bodies, the dead being brought to life here. Certainly things that one might expect to see in an asylum.

And yet all of it was made much more believable by one note in particular, written in hands Near was intimately familiar with.

A sense of urgency crept into Near's thoughts then. He didn't show it outwardly, save for twirling his hair tighter, tugging at it before freeing his finger. If he was here, and they were here, then who else had arrived? Already Near longed for his toys, or a fingerpuppet kit to make them, the task ideal for filtering through the information. As it stood, the thin paper of his notebook would be a lacking substitute, but the only option at the time.

First, however, Near began to write on several of the notices. There was obviously much more to this hospital than its surface showed, and the push to solve the puzzle was quickly born in his mind.

Nightshift 33: Kitchen

[info]blood_and_pocky
[from here]

The first and only time he’d come to the kitchen, it’d been his first night, and it had started with chocolate cake, too. And ended with fighting off lizards, meeting Sasuke, and being inflicted with Alucard. There weren’t any good memories of this place (if that could seriously be said of any part of the building).

Aidou was certainly more wary entering.

“Be careful not to bump into anything or get near the stoves,” he muttered, looking around the room with a frown. “Giant lizards that breathe fire seem to dwell here.” It didn’t feel as ridiculous saying that, since he’d been faced with the evidence once before. He hoped the newbie, Wolfram, wouldn’t question that beyond simple words, because Aidou really didn’t want to have to rush to break down a door because of stupid monsters. Though maybe he should have been more worried about Jack.

Nightshift 33: Cafeteria

[info]blood_and_pocky
[from here]

If there was one thing that made Aidou the best person in the whole damn Institute to be partnered up with during a night time adventure, it was that he was a vampire. A genius vampire, at that.

The vampire part just meant that he could clearly see that the cafeteria was unoccupied, from his position just inside the doors. The genius part meant that Aidou didn't move farther in until he'd passed a glance over the entire room, listening as well as watching. Making sure his initial once over was right. Or as right as he could hope to be, with his overly sharp senses slightly dulled as they were.

He didn't bother to hide the fact that he didn't have a flashlight, at least not this time. Jack might have still been using his, but Aidou had to admit that complaining about it was rather moot, given that he'd probably see something sooner than Jack, and could tell him to turn it off if he had to. Hopefully the kitchen would be just as unremarkable, he thought, looking over his shoulder briefly to check on the others before starting up the center row.

Nightshift 33 - Sun Room

[info]spirit_forge
[from here]

The Sun Room at night was drastically different from its impression during the day. The sunlight allowed beams of moonlight to hauntingly cascade in. The chairs and sofas looked like perfect hiding places, and Archer checked them with his light. He felt uneasy but he needed the materials for his bow.

"The Music Room's over there alright Brook?" He pointed at his roommate's goal. "I'm going over here to the Arts and Crafts Room. We'll meet back here in a few minutes." Archer really didn't feel like bailing out his roommate, but he couldn't exactly leave him to the wolves either. "If something happens then give a shout, and I'll come over, alright?"

Nightshift 33: M35, Clinic

[info]the_clown_king
Tamaki was still awed and touched that Ritsuka had set up the clinic for him. He... well, he'd stay alert and up and as focused as possible until Raine showed up. And anyone else. He remembered Kratos had said something about not being able to make it....

They really did need more healers and doctors. Maybe during the day he could hold classes in first aide or something, and anyone who wished to help could come. Yes, that was something he could focus his mind on. That was good.

He struggled out of bed, eyes still feeling hot and itchy from crying, and opened the door with another small smile directed at his roommate.

From the sound of the intercom, something was happening tonight. Maybe he should ask Ritsuka to stay after all.....

Nightshift 33: F21-30 Hallway

[info]himetsuru
[F22]

The intercom startled Falis when it went off and thankfully, she'd set the newly crafted spear down or she might have jabbed a splinter into her palm. As it was, she was stading over her bed looking at all her weapons laid out upon it. One sharp spear, still stained with Eve's blood, one fresh spear, and a stake. Maybe she needed another stake. Nah... Namine should remember hers; Namine didn't forget things. This was why Falis liked the girl so much.

Her eyes moved to look at the intercom as the announcement continued, nodding as it pretty much conformed the whole ancient technology thing she'd been pretty certain of in teh first place. And since it seemed like it was on the fritz, whatever it did, that maybe the princess wasn't going to have to use her super-secret sealing Forland blood anytime soon. Maybe there was another princess around with special blood doing it for them.

What was her name? Jill? Jane? Whatever.

Now, if the people that were supposed to be showing up showed up soon. Bounty hunters had to be patient, but that didn't mean they liked waiting.

Nightshift 33: F1-F10 Hallway

[info]thatdamnedninja
Yuffie carefully tightened and tested the knot at the back of her head. The long strip of torn and folded bed sheet was a lousy replacement for her usual headband, but she could deal with it. For now, anyway.

Frowning, she dropped her hand to pick briefly at the grey material of her pants. It was so tempting to rip them, to modify them into shorts... The young ninja shook her head, blowing a raspberry at nothing in particular. Later, maybe, when she'd have a use for the extra material. Right now, she had better things to do.

Picking up the already turned-on the flashlight she'd left sitting on the desk, Yuffie checked the five pens she'd shoved in the waistband of her pants. They weren’t exactly her weapon of choice, but...

... Well, they'd have to do for now. Cloud had promised her those Hira shuriken, so it wasn't like she'd be relying on writing utensils for too long, anyway! And besides, no way was she gonna waste tonight sleeping, not like last night. The intercom and radio announcements had been totally weird, but weird was interesting- sounded to her like the Head Doctor was having a bit of trouble. And where there was trouble, there was the chance for an advantage.

Or maybe just a bit of fun. Whatever.

Yuffie span on heel, heading towards the exit. After one final glance over her shoulder at the bedroom, one last deep breath, one last moment to steel herself, she swung the door open and stepped outside.

Nightshift 33: West Wing, South Hall 1-B

[info]contentincloset
[from here]

Upon entering this hallway, he did slow his movements a little just to be more careful. He did know the way, but this was not a hallway he was used to traversing and that was reason enough to be more careful. The trip through it was quick enough though as he slipped into what was the only female block he was aware of. F3 wasn't far now.
