Be friends. x Please try to make posts Julie-related. x And the most important thing; have fun! ♥ ♥ This lady was born in England, in 1935. She soon discover that she had a 5 octave singingvoice! At the age of 11 Julie made her first major performance, singing "Polonaise from Mignon" for the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret. In 1947 she made her professional stage debut at the London Hippodome in the new musical revue "Starlight roof". From there on she preformed in varous christmas pantomimes, such as "Humpty Dumpty", "Alladin" and "Cinderella". In "Cinderella" she was spotted by director Vida Hope and composer Sandy Wildon, casting her as the lead in their new musical "The Boyfriend". During that show she auditioned for the role as Eliza Doolittle in "My Fair Lady", and got the part. The show was a huge success, and played both in London and on Broadway. Now a well-known leading lady, she was also cast for Lerner and Lowes next big muscial, "Camelot", in which she played against Richard Burton. She got her first role in a movie, after Walt Disney saw her on stage in "Camelot", and and thought she was perferct as "Mary Poppins". With "Mary Poppins" not yet released, she had already been offerd two other leading roles. One as "Emily" in "The Americanization of Emily" and the other as Maria von Trapp in the famous musical "The Sound of Music". "Hawaii", "Torn Curtain" and "Thoroughly Modern Millie" followed. Making Julie Andrews the name on everyones lips. Her next collaboration with Rober Wise, the director of "The sound of Music", resulted in the musical "Star!" based on the life of Gertrude Lawrence. "Star!", not the happy and carefree musical "The Sound of Music" had been, wasn't well received by the public. And her following movies; "Darling Lili" and "The Tamarind Seed", both directed by her husband Blake Edwards, were minor sucecces. During this period Julie stepped away from the movies for a while, finding her place in televison with her own weekly show "The Julie Andrews hour", which earned her several awards. Six years later she re-appeared on the big screen in the successfull movie "10", directed by husband Blake Edwards. Not soon after came the next Andrews/Edwards collaboration; "SOB" and in 1982 and the musical hit "Victor/Vicoria", which was later adapted to Broadway. She also got her third Oscar nomination with her role as Victoria Grant. In 1997 a routine throat operation somehow went wrong, leaving Julie unable to sing. But although Julie has lost her gorgeous singingvoice, she sure is busier as ever. She has stared in many movies after that, like "One Special Night", "On Golden Pond", two "Eloise"-movies and the very successful "Princess Diaries" and "Princess Diaries 2". She has also been busy writing childrensbooks with her daughter, Emma Walton. Some of Julie's latest projects has been in "Shrek2" and "Shrek the third", where she has the voice of the Queen.
