Hello Everyone,
Well, i recently purchased a custom made Tia Dalma costume. I do plan to embellish it with some smaller details, like the shells on the belt.
Here is what my costume looks like:
Made by the wonderful Exclusive Taylormade costumes in Australia.
I don't plan to use cowrie shells, there has been a massive surge of zebra mussel shells at a lake near my house, and I got a bunch of them to use on the belt.
Does anyone have any recommendations for this? The shells are thinner compared to cowrie shells, I was thinking gluing them on would be better...but if anyone has any other suggestions I would be most grateful.

I'm trying ot relocate a certain fanfic. It was a Norri/Dalma parring. No smut, but it was was an amazing fanfic about how Tia rescued Norrington after almost drowning then being stranded on the shore for like days. She takes him in and shows him things about his life the way they could have been and the way they are. THere was this part were she uses her vodun to show Norrington what life would have been like if he had Married Elzabeth, and it wasn't at all what he expected. Does anybody know what I'm talking about? |

Popular Disney fan site MiceChat.com likes to think of itself as tolerant, particularly in light of the fact that it's run by two gay white men, but it has a secret history of hypocrisy and racism at its core, and a tremendous intolerance of Black and other non-white perspectives, especially when those perspectives come into conflict with white privilege and the "colorblind" viewpoint. Suspecting that someone is a white supremacist is considered "hate speech," and espousing a pro-Black viewpoint is considered "racist" because it doesn't emphasize white people. Suspensions and bannings are common for doing nothing more than attempting to stimulate discussion about existing race-related issues, such as the Jena 6 case.
Granted, some wonder why such issues would be brought up on a Disney website, but considering that a variety of other issues are also discussed on the board, including issues relating to Disney films that do include racism, exoticism, the colonialist mindset, etc., it's not an issue that is particularly out of line on such a site.
Having had extensive experience dealing with this site and other similar Disney fansites, I encourage everyone here to join MiceChat and see for yourself the way that Black and non-white and leftist perspectives are smacked down and eliminated. |

| Calypso's Torment Part III: Final Installment |

A continuation of the previous two parts of this three part fanfic. I finally finished this the other day, and am getting more and more ideas for fanfic. I am sort of starting to worry about the lack of, or what seems like, the sudden lack of interest in fanfic stuff regarding POTC, Davy Jones and Tia Dalma...but maybe I shouldn't panic. I just don't like it when things 'get dead' if you know what I mean.
To recap the last two parts, it is revealed that Calypso did not show up for Davy Jones as she promised, and the reasons were a bit more complicated than her just being her usual tempermental and mercurial source. Traitorous 'ho' she was not. ( At least in my opinion)
