This community is an arts and literature community. (Oh no, not another one!) Daily Art Regiment, this community, is just that: A community based on the principle that creativite muscles are something that ought to be flexed as often as possible. That even if one is not a professional, especially if they're not a professional, that a bit of practice can't hurt anything.
The rules are fairly simple.
1) Spend a minimum of one hour, each day, on your medium of choice. Writing, drawing, photography, painting, sculpture, whatever you please. Take at least one solid hour out of your day to do this if you can. Best suggestion would be two, but we know how busy you are with taking care of business but we're sure you can manage at least an hours worth of doodling at least.
2) If something like a drawing, or what not, either scan or photograph your artwork and post it on your server of choice. We suggest Deviant Art, which is a free and great community based art website.
If it's poetry, a story, or what have you then go ahead and just type it into the community. Also, please, if it has mature content in it then label it as such. And always write a summary if it is a short story.
3) Always put everything under an LJ cut. The code is simple.
<*lj-cut text="type title here">Put body of work/links to images here.<*/lj-cut> (take out the *s)
Simple. Use it. Always.
4) Critique! Be constructive, not simple. "That's pretty cool" doesn't help someone get a step closer to an awesome novel or beautiful painting. Tell the artist what you liked and what you didn't like, how things can be better and what they should do again in the future. Also if you're the artist getting critiqued, don't get fussy about it if you don't like what they have to say. Grow a tougher skin and take what you're told with a grain of salt. Also, don't flame. Flaming bad and stupid. Flaming get you banned. Flaming hurt.
That's pretty much it. One thing that's not a rule, but would help a lot, is if you did NOT link an image directly (as in using the img tag to embed the image into the page). It saves loading time, and bandwidth for the site hosting it. Don't care if it's yours, please don't hotlink.
So you know, your art does not have to be complete to post. Your art isn't expected to be complete when you post it to the community. Don't be afraid to show your work. Don't get cold feet if you think something is bad, as you never know if you can learn from it.
This is not a strict community, but it's in your best interest as an artist to keep up with practice.
