Guidelines for posting to the

daily_snitch

Archives/Websites: The

daily_snitch will link to public archives. It does not link to personal archives/website regardless of whether it is on Livejournal or somewhere else.

Challenge posts: The

daily_snitch will only link to challenge posts (either on a private journal or a community) if the challenge runs for two weeks or longer. Any challenges that run for less than two weeks (think weekly challenges on a drabble community) will not be linked to. The

daily_snitch will not post reminders of challenges deadlines.

Communities: The

daily_snitch will post new communities, regardless if they are open or closed membership. However, the

daily_snitch will not post challenges or other announcements directed at members of closed communities. We will list master lists that result from said challenges. In addition, we will not link to new communities that are created for the purpose of posting stories by a single authors and/or cooperations.

Discussions/Questions: The

daily_snitch will include all questions and discussions that are relevant to the fandom. There is a certain amount of subjectivity in this area, and for example we won't link to 20 posts on the same subject, however we do try to give a broad and varied range of opinions.

Fic searches: The

daily_snitch will only link to fic/thematic searches when they're for a rare pairing and/or for a specific theme. For example: we will not link to a random Draco/Ron fic search, but we will link to a search for Draco/Ron crossdressing stories. We will not link to a search for random non-con fics, (since this is one of the most popular kinks/themes which has its own archives/communities), but we will link to a thematic search for afterlife stories (since this is a rare theme).

Hot Recs/Hot Art: New fics or works of art that have been recced at least 3 times around livejournal can be included as a hot rec in the

daily_snitch. Mention in a newletter DOES NOT count as a rec. Submissions should include title, author/artist, possible pairings (full names of characters) and the rating. WIPs will be recced more than one if there have been at least 5 new chapters since the last mention in the Snitch. Please when sending recs, include the three links where the story has been recced.

Art - The art must be contain headers stating that the characters involved are over 18 and such a claim must seem valid to an objective person.

Fics - Stories that state in their headers that there are underage characters will not be included.

Illegal issues: Anything that violates the copyright laws in regard to the movies and/or soundtracks will not be included in the

daily_snitch.

Rants: As long as a rant is directed at something fictional, for example a character or a fanfiction cliché, the

daily_snitch will link to it. When a rant, community or something else is directed at people and/or their work specifically (writers, artists, archivists, etc) the

daily_snitch will not link to it. (For example: trolls, MST communities, etc)

Rec posts: The

daily_snitch will only link to rec posts/websites that have more than 10 fics recced in the same post/update. However, this does not apply to common pairings unless the stories deals with a specific aspect of that ship. (For example: we won't link to a popular reccer reccing 10 or more random Harry/Snape fics, but we will link to anyone reccing 10 or more Harry/Snape non-con fics set after the war.)

RPGs: The

daily_snitch only includes new RPGs that haven't started play yet or have just started. We will only advertise these RPGs once, regardless of whether they are on live journal or greatestjournal. The snitch will not advertise searches for new players for existing games. Those requests can be posted at

hprpsearch

Privacy: The

daily_snitch wants to guarantee the privacy of every poster. For this reason, we never link to flocked posts. On occasion, posts are flocked after we link them, in which case a simple post will be enough for us to remove the link. Moreover, if anyone wishes for us not to link/remove a post, we will always respect the poster's request.

Vidoes: No NC-17 videos will be linked at this time.

The

daily_snitch reserves the right to reject any submission, if it feels that the poster is trying to circumvent our rules or if the post is detrimental to the

daily_snitch and fandom in general.

We, as editors, rely on our readers to find interesting posts. Unlike a newspaper, we do not have a large staff that can cover every corner of fandom, and we can only do our best in searching for interesting things. Whether it falls under Discussion or Hot Rec, we welcome all submissions. When making submissions, include the link. If you'd like something worded in a special manner, include that too.
