| Land of Averia |
[Jul. 16th, 2009|04:00 pm] |
Hi, I'm new here.
In order to distract myself from the shounenai addiction that I am currently weaning myself from (but I’ll still be writing them maybe weekly), I’ve decided to diversify my interest to include drawing. To encourage myself, I’ve created an imaginary mystical kingdom, Land of Averia. It will be populated with royalty, warriors, sorcerers, bizarre creatures, etc. I intend to update on a weekly basis with new characters and their favourite inspirational quotes. No major plot has been planned so the main focus for now is character design. Background on Land of Averia: ( Read more... ) To kick start the drawings, here are the sketches of two characters: Warrior from the House of Lorenzia: Eldest son of General Lorenzia, Atonis Lorenzia
( More about this character ) Favourite quote: In a world filled with hate, we must still dare to hope. In a world filled with anger, we must still dare to comfort. In a world filled with despair, we must still dare to dream. And in a world filled with distrust, we must still dare to believe. – MJ, Michael Jackson

I got Burne Hogarth's book on Dynamic Hands. I've been sketching them at least once a week.

| | O Superman (for Massenet) - Laurie Anderson | ] | Hi everyone, I'm new to this community, which seems to have gone quiet, so I thought I'd post a few things and maybe kick it along?

This drawing is from my sketchbook that I carry in my pocket, where I quickly sketch down people and scenes that I see around me every day.
A few days, I watched this little boy walking with his mother through the little tunnel-driveway out of Morty's, onto York Street. I love watching little kids walk, because they don't just walk, plodding along like us boring grown-ups: they jump, skip, dance ... life is one huge adventure.
When I did the drawing, I tried to evoke memories of Pooh & Piglet. |

| [Mod Hat] A friendly reminder. |

Hi gang!
Yes, this is one of your quiet and elusive moderators, de-lurking to post an announcement.
PROMOTING OTHER COMMUNITIES
What IS okay: Posting once to advertise another drawing or painting-related community.
What is NOT okay: Posting multiple times to advertise the same community, posting an ad for a role-playing community, posting an ad for any other community not related to drawing in some way, shape or form.
Yes, there are lots of types of art out there and they all have their merits, but let's keep this focused on drawing. :]
Thanks, everyone! |

| SF/F magazine now accepting art submissions! |
[Oct. 20th, 2008|08:44 pm] |
(moderators: if this isn't allowed, please delete with my apologies)
an online magazine of Science Fiction & Fantasy with a twist Crossed Genres ( crossedgenres) is still accepting art submissions for its inaugural issue, to be released December 1! We have our cover art, but we are still looking for black & white inside art.
Submissions should be roughly in the proportions of 8.5” x 11” (can be larger). Any media but photomanips are accepted. Images should be relatively tame (artistic nudity and non-graphic violence are acceptable) and not use previously copyrighted material. Beyond that, so long as they contain at least some element of Science Fiction and/or Fantasy, anything goes!
Submissions for the first issue will be accepted until October 31! Please read the submission guidelines and consider making a submission! Any questions/queries can be sent to cg@crossedgenres.com. |
