wedding hair
hey everyone!
I posted here about a month ago all stressed out about my hair for my wedding. Thought I'd post a follow up to say that my short hair turned into a marvelous updo. it can be done! here's some hope for you all.

I started my day off pretty early, going on errands and such, getting ready for my hair appointment at 11. this picture was taken at 11:25, with the stylist MIA and my sister in law getting really pissed off for me. This is pretty much how I do my hair every day now, except soon I'll get it cut so lame ponytail won't be my only option
Photobucket

once the hairstylist got there, at 11:35, she worked my hair into quite an interesting shape. She gave me more volume than my hair will ever dream of having on its own.
Photobucket

the finished product made me really happy. This photo shows the curls the best. isn't my sister's hair the cutest bob? I'm envious.
Photobucket

and this is the glamor shot of the day!
Photobucket

so for anyone stressing about special occasion hair, there's really no need. my hair is still at the awful awkward in between stage and look what a good stylist can do with it! I did grow it out a bit and took vitamins to help it along, but go with short hair if you want!

That is really gorgeous. The problem for me is, I really like short pixie-ish hair, but am feeling wedding pressure about growing it out. I have decided that I don't mind it being funky and edgy for the wedding, and have opted for no veil, but don't really feel like I'm a 'flowers in the hair' type, or even a brooch type. But I want my hair to look special.
I LOVE LOVE the peacock feathers. It's really great. Bridesmaid dresses are great too.

if you feel more like yourself in pixie-ish hair, go with that. there are plenty of ways to make it glamorous without growing it out in the slightest. you said you weren't a flowers or brooch kind of person, what about those glue-on rhinestones that typically go on your eyelashes? you could style your pixie cut like you usually do, then add those randomly, or in a pattern, or even just a smattering across a certain part of your head. just a thought I had. other than that you could use a headband, a sash, feathers etc. I even thought of using a length of tulle to make a psuedo-bun for a while...

it gives the illusion of long hair. Just keep looking for inspiration and you won't have to give in to the pressures!

this page gave me a lot of encouragement-http://offbeatbride.com/2007/11/short-hairstyles

Oooo. I REALLY like the idea of using those glue-on jewels. I was thinking that, since, even with my pixie cut, my hair tends to move towards one side/my face, a brooch that sort of swept in the same direction would look nice (but couldn't find one), that would be perfect! I could place them where I like.
You're genius. Thanks!

Totally. I am getting my hair trimmed in a week or so, and I'll give it all a trial run.

I did my niece's hair into finger waves for her Prom. Her hair was at that in between from growing out a pixie. I will try and post it one day.

You are gorgeous! Short hair for formal occasions is something I think all of us panic about a bit, but this puts me more at ease.

Not fond of the peacock feathers, but it is NOTHING against YOU. You are gorgeous ! You do not need to be envious of your sister's hair at all. I love that last pic of you the most. Your photog. was great too !

I was just wondering where you got the peacock feather from? I'm in my sister's wedding at the end of May and my hair is a short A line and I think that would look pretty. Thanks!!!

I got them all at either micheal's or hobby lobby... both have a feather section. you can also order them online in bulk but if you're only looking for one you can get little packages at hobby stores.

Great idea! My wedding is in October and I just cut my long hair into a bob like your sister's and was worried about losing my cool new style if I grow it out for the wedding! Not anymore - you looked gorgeous :)

she usually styles it a little more sleek(ly?) for every-day but for the wedding she used a little more hairspray and blowdryer than usual and it looked absolutely stunning with only a simple difference in volume. I love seeing brides with bobs!

My goodness, I do believe that is the coolest thing I've EVER seen.

By the way, peacock feathers are my obsession. They really work with your red hair, too. O_O

So pretty. :)

If you click the "all sizes" button above your photo, you get taken to a page where you can actually grab the HTML for different sizes of the shots. It's awesome! That's how I do all the pix on offbeatbride.com
