Hi everyone,
I'm home again for the summer after finishing my sophomore year of school at Fairfield University.
I need something to keep me occupied besides the monotony of work and the gym; I'm sort of looking for a change. I decided to check this and realized that there's a HUGE number of members of this community.

That means a lot to me.

This community has been neglected for far too long, but I appreciate all of you who have taken some satisfaction in using the layouts I've created.

I would like to start making new layouts again for you all to use, and I hope that there's still enough interest in them; having not been here in quite some time, I'm not sure that anybody still uses this or looks at it.

However, if you're still a member, and at least semi-active, if you'd be interested in me creating new layouts for you to use, please leave me a note. If there's a certain theme you're looking for, most specifically if you're looking for layouts in specific colors or that evoke a certain mood or style, let me know.

I'd like to hear from you that are still devoted members.

Thanks all, and I'm sorry for the long hiatus. Hopefully this will be up and running again soon =)

Melissa

I've decided to come back to LJ (again.. I know, how often do I say this?), at least for a little while. For those of you who don't know, I have a new journal, grayskyeyes, which I will be using from now on. Just in case you got confused when you saw this posted by a seemingly different user.

Anyway, I'll be posting a new layout up in just a few minutes. Since I've been away from this site, LJ has unfortunately added some stupid navigation bar at the top of the screen when you're viewing your journal/entries. As of right now, I have no idea how to get rid of that. If I ever figure it out, I'll let you know.

Also, thanks to all of you who continue to use & credit me for these layouts. I'm happy to see that people are still interested/using these layouts and I apologize to those I may have inconvienenced by being away and not making any new ones.

So now, check back in a few minutes for the newest layout addition! =)

~melissa

hello folks!

sorry it's been so long since this community has had a real update of any kind. i've just been so busy with school, and applying for scholarships/college, it's been ridiculous. luckily, i graduate in little over a month! so once my AP tests are done with and the homework becomes almost non-existent, i promise i will be back here with some more layouts. =)

in the meantime, there should be plenty of layouts to keep you guys occupied. in just a minute i'll be changing the community's layout to one that's already listed, so it feels a little more spring-like. like i said, in a few weeks i should be back with some more spring/summer layouts that you guys can use.

i apologize again for any inconviences of not posting! but the community will NOT be shut down, and if you have any questions or anything you can leave me a comment or something.

~melissa

I've put a lot of time into this community and especially on the FAQ page, to save EVERYONE time, by answering questions already asked.

People, all you have to do is LOOK and READ. That's all I ask! I just beg all of you to check those pages BEFORE asking me a question. Make sure it hasn't already been answered.

And since this entry was kind of negative, the community now has 2000+ members!!!! I can't even tell you how happy that makes me. =) I never thought that this community would be that popular and I thank all of you for joining and for appreciating what I do!

<33 melissa

i'm sorry, but i have absolutely WAY too much to do right now.

i should have done this a few months ago, but i sincerely thought that i would have had at least SOME time to make new layouts.

i dont.

so i'm going on hiatus indefinetly. this does NOT mean that i'm closing the community, it just means that i dont need comments asking to be added in my personal journal filling up my inbox, i don't have the time to go through them all.

so i'm going to ask that when you post a comment saying that you'll take a layout, PLEASE ADD IN THE TITLE "TAKING A LAYOUT". that way when it shows up in my mailbox i wont have to read it, ill just know that you're taking a layout and i have to trust everyone that you'll give me credit still.

sorry for the inconvience, i'll let you all know when i plan to be back.

-melissa

Ok, it's been a long time with no update. My apologies! I'll be working on a new layout soon, although I can't make any promises as to when that'll be, school starts Tuesday!! :( :(

In the meantime, I'm finally making this FAQ page in addition to the rules. PLEASE READ BOTH THIS AND THE RULES PAGE BEFORE YOU ASK ME ANY QUESTIONS. It'll save me a lot of time from replying to the SAME types of questions over and over again.

I'll update this page whenever I see a new influx of repeated questions.

Can I be added?
NO! I get this question all the time and I hate it. You do not need to be added to the community in order to be a member. To join the community, click on the "Join" link at the top of the community journal, AFTER reading the rules. If you want to be added as a friend to my personal journal, you must comment me on there.

I don't see the layouts. Where are they?
You MUST be a member of the community in order to see the layouts. All the layout entries are made friends only (for members) in order to keep stealing to a minimum. To join the community, see above.

How do I use my layout?
Your layout should be set to the S1 Style System and all views should be set on Generator. To change this, go to "Manage -> Customize" on the LJ toolbar at the top of the page. Once you change these settings, scroll down until you're able to see a big white box titled "Overrides". This is where you paste the string of coding for the layout. Click save or update (whatever it is) and voila! Your new layout.

How do I give you credit for my layout?
This is a big one. THE CREDIT IS ALREADY IN THE LAYOUT. You don't need to change anything, UNLESS you change the navigation links and are planning on deleting the line of credit. If so, you need to give me credit by using the community button in the user info page of this community, or you can add your own line of credit in your user info.

Can you make me a layout?
No. I don't do requests. Occassionally I'll ask for opinions, but I will never make custom made layouts.

What about pictures in the layouts?
No pictures either. I don't have the resources nor do I like them. These layouts are meant to be plain and simple, and pictures kind of ruin that purpose.

Can I change the font/lyrics/colors?
Yes. As long as you keep the credit link on the layout, you may change whatever you want. Just be careful when you're editing navigation links if you aren't familiar with them, or you might ruin the links.

Why does the information/link box at the top of my journal have two different colors? It doesn't look right!
This is because you have custom colors or a color theme defined. That big long table where you put in your own colors for various parts of your livejournal? That's it. Make sure you have custom colors defined, but delete ALL the colors listed in the table. The table should be left completely blank, and then you should be all set.

Question not listed? Feel free to comment me on this journal or email me. =)

I've noticed something recently that I guess I should have mentioned at the beginning or on each entry about the layouts.

The layouts are designed for the GENERATOR style in the S1 STYLE SYSTEM. They do not work for any other type (tablular indent, refried, etc.), and look pretty silly. So please make sure that you have everything set to GENERATOR and you're using the S1 STYLE SYSTEM in order for the layouts to be viewed the way they are intended.

I apologize for not mentioning this sooner, I guess I didnt realize it would be a problem. But that's that.

And I know I havent been on here/posted a new layout in a while but I've had things to do and well, I'll get to it eventually. For now, 12 layouts should keep everyone busy and a layout will be coming sometime in the near future, I promise. =)

ATTENTION

Firstly, if you are taking a layout, you need to COMMENT on that entry and let me know that you are taking it. Most of you are doing a fine job of that, but there are still some people who refuse to read the rules and continue to ignore that. It's important and I'd appreciate it if people payed attention to such things.

Secondly, and most importantly, there's another issue with crediting. THERE IS A LINE OF CREDIT IN THE NAVIGATION LINKS IN EVERY LAYOUT. It is perfectly fine if you want to change the navigation links, but you need to LEAVE THE LINE OF CREDIT IN THERE. Basically, I just want everyone to be aware of this when they're changing the navigation links and such. I assume that the majority of these issues from removing the credit are mistakes, and not everyone realizes that the credit is in there, or whatever.

If you want to remove the navigation links COMPLETELY, you need to put the community button in your user info. It's located in the user info page of this community, complete with the coding all set, so all you have to do is copy and paste it.

If everyone pays attention to these details, things would be a heck of a lot easier. Thank you to those who have followed the rules and all that, and hopefully this will work out a little better, now that everyone is aware about what's going on. =)

And new layout coming soon! Adios.

Here it is folks, the archived list of all the layouts that can be found on this community. Keep in mind, although the COLORS are listed next to the layouts, it is provided as a description to an extent. If you're looking for a specific color/color scheme, it'll help you find it faster. HOWEVER, if you see a layout in another color that you really like, you CAN change the colors. Just remember to leave the credit on the layout.

IMPORTANT: Please comment ON THE ENTRY THAT THE LAYOUT IS FEATURED. This is so you can search for them faster, but if you are taking a layout, you have to let me know by commenting on that particular entry.

Hope thats easy enough to understand, and let me know if this makes things easier! =)

Layout One (purple/gray)
Layout Two (green/black)
Layout Three (yellow/orange/white)
Layout Four (light blue/white)
Layout Five (red/white)
Layout Six (black/neon color accents)
Layout Seven (light purple/white)
Layout Eight (light green/white)
Layout Nine (lots of pink)
Layout Ten (grayish/white)
Layout Eleven (light yellow/rust red)
Layout Twelve (light blue/pink/white)
Layout Thirteen (dark purple)
Layout Fourteen (oceany greens)
Layout Fifteen (Valentine's Day Layout)
Layout Sixteen (black/red/gray)
Layout Seventeen (watermelon - pink/green)

People, please.

I'm sick of people not giving me credit for these layouts. I don't want to have to waste my time looking over 80+ journals just to make sure that everyone is obeying the rules and is giving credit where needed, or to check to see that everyone who took a layout left me a comment TELLING me that they were going to take it.

I'm thinking about moderating each person who wishes to join this community, because people don't seem to be grown up enough to handle using layouts. I don't want to have to do that, but it's getting to that point.

I wanted this to be an enjoyable community for the benefit of others, so I could share my work, get some feedback, and provide others with cute layouts. Instead, it's becoming a hassle and it's frustruating.

If the members of this community don't start shaping up soon, something is going to have to be done about it. And I'm sorry (again) for those of you who appreciate my layouts and who are considerate of my work.

Ok, I DON'T think people in this community understand English, because it's starting to piss me off.

STOP TAKING MY LAYOUTS WITHOUT GIVING ME CREDIT

I'm not an idiot, I can SEE your journals and I KNOW that some of you are taking my layouts without telling me in a comment that you're using them, and WITHOUT giving me credit. Again, I'M NOT STUPID. It's still the same layout even if you change the colors, get a clue.

It takes two minutes to stick a button on your userinfo, and its the LEAST you could do considering I spend hours making one layout. Give me a break, you can not honestly be that lazy and inconsiderate.

This is the LAST warning. If I happen to look at your journal and I see you've taken one of my layouts without giving me credit, YOU'RE BANNED. Not only that, but I will warn other communities about your tendency to steal. I've given everyone fair warning, it's all over this journal.

If this message continues to be ignored, this community is done. Sorry for those of you who PAY ATTENTION and appreciate what I'm doing.

I can't seem to get the links for credit to work on the actual layout, so I've created a button that you MUST put in your user info in order to credit me for the layout.

If the credit link on your layout isn't working, you NEED to use the button. People who do NOT put the button on their user info WILL BE BANNED, no excuses. I've added it to the rules, and seeing as I've put a lot of time into these layouts I believe I deserve the credit.

I apologize for messing up the first layout credit link, but if you could fix it by adding the button to your user info now that'd be greatly appreciated.

Thank you. And new layout coming in a few minutes!
