Decided to make a few monochromatic ones, those seem to sell better for some reason. Even better than dragons made out of scale-patterned fabric. I'm a bit confused! But, what the people want, the people get.

This is not my proudest moment.

With visions of Ren Faire shoulder-dragons in my head (and also visions of those creepy puppet things that turn their head if you twist a knob on the end of some wire rammed into their bum), I patterned out a shoulder-sitting member of my Creature species thingies.

It's overall pretty cute, but its back end is a mangled horror. But the "overall pretty cute" is outweighing the horror half, so I'm posting it XD

The horror, the horror... )

This pattern's definately going to need a tweaking, but I hope to offer these guys for sale someday XD

Thanks for looking :D

It's been a long time since I've posted anything plushie wise. I have been kind of burnt out on plushie making. I had a friend of mine want me to make one for a friend who's moving away.

Hey guys!

I finally got my paws on some gorgeous cotton batik fabrics. They are so pretty! But I've never sewn with them before, they fray a LOT and have practically no stretch. I tend to sew by hand as I haven't yet fixed the jamming problem my machine is having...do you have any suggestions as to how to sew this fabric without destroying it or making it ugly?

I have a "defraying" solution to paint onto the edges of the cut fabric, but that's about it. D: The fabric is so beautiful I really don't want to wreck it while trying to make something out of it, I have a few dragon designs in mind for the future.

Hey All, love the stuff I've been seeing lately. I just wanted to post some of the puppets that I've created in the past year.

Last Year I made these guys, the Horse and the Sheep, for Shakespeare Orange County's Green show (a little show they do before the main stage production to make the whole event feel like a festival) called "Beowulf".

The Puppets!! )

They're hand and rod puppets without Arms.  Perhaps they're just fancy hand puppets?

This is what happens when you listen to Gary Jules' version of the song "Mad World" on repeat for an hour.

A slew of pictures and words! )

Thanks for looking :3 Next on the agenda is a "shoulder-sitting" Creature! Keep an eye out for it >:}

I finally finished making a pattern for a plush dog in a playbow pose. It took a lot of work, and I've definitely learned more about pattern-making. I'm very happy with the end result! This puppy is based on a maltese I know. (I will be making more pups of various breeds in the future.)

I'm very sorry if this isn't allowed, but recently I had my Live Journal hacked. The horrible culprit did nothing directly to my journal, but posted several mean and hurtful comments in several community posts. I'm trying to track them all down and apologize directly to those hurt. I'm very sorry for this and intensely embarrassed. Please believe that I would never say such things.

Is it kosher to ask for price checks/pricing advice here? XD

I don't have all my examples ready yet, but I am seriously fail at pricing my own work. I tend to underprice horribly (according to my friends) but I don't want my work to be unattainably expensive XD

I'm not just begging for help and sitting on my heiny though - I'm going to be poking around DA and Etsy for similar plushies and comparing prices, and I'm also going to be calculating a by-the-hour price based on Cali's minimum wage XD

But, I wanted to just check if it's okay, before I do ask for pricing advice :3

Thanks!

Hello! I've been watching [info]cute_plush for a while, and finally got around to joining!

I'm a friend of [info]lakotawolf and the recipient of the completely awesome and adorable sushi dragon and sushi tree that she posted here. I've always wanted to learn how to sew, so while I was visiting her a couple of months ago I got to benefit from her teachings! She taught me the basics of hand-sewing, how to make sense out of patterns, different stitches, all that good stuff.

I just started sewing on my own a couple of weeks ago, and it's been so much fun! I've mostly been making fairly simple things, like onigiri, but I finally decided to try a more complex pattern. Although I started off with a basic cat pattern, he ended up becoming Phoenix Cat.

"Hello!"
