What do you usually tip pizza drivers?

I love it when I drive an order and they call in oh, I don't know $35.14 of food and when I get to the door $35.14 EXACTLY is waiting for me. Their excuse: "Oh we're poor right now, sorry bout that"

DON'T ORDER FOOD WHEN YOU'RE POOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:/ I'll remember not to order food anymore. I order out very rarely because yes I don't have alot of money so my tip will be whatever I have left in my wallet. Most of the time it's less than 5 dollars which seems to be the bar minumum.

Not tipping when you live in a HOUSE, in a nice neighborhood is really shady.

(Note: I live in an apartment across the street from a field of cows)

Hell, for the most part as a delivery driver so long as it was 2 bucks or more, I didn't consider the person cheap. If you can't tip at least 2 bucks, forget it, but otherwise don't worry.

Oh. I'm sorry, I only have - just as it happens - the exact amount the total is for. I feel bad for being cheap, but not bad enough to do more than make up a terrible excuse.

If I don't have enough for a tip, I will only use a driver I am familiar with... That way, I can let them know that I only have enough for a pizza and I will get them back with some interest next time they deliver... It's the same thing I do when I go to get coffee and only have enough for what I am ordering.. Which doesn't usually happen, it is usually more of a I have enough plus some measly amount of change that would end up as more of an insult than a tip...

If I don't have someone I know, I either pick it up, or don't order out.

Usually for delivered food I either add a couple of pounds and round to the nearest pound (or 50p, if I have a coin to hand) - or I round to the nearest £5. Obviously if something's £19.80 I'll use the first method, but if it's £17-something I'll be ok with handing over a twenty and telling them to keep the change.

I always round up to the nearest $5, unless it's really close (like $23 or $24, in which case I'll give an extra $5). I know pizza deliverers around here get paid jack shit, so I make sure to give them a good tip even though the pizza place I order from isn't even a mile away. X3

My orders are usually only about $12-15. I tip $2-3 normally. In other words, about the same percentage I would in a full-service restaurant. More if the weather's bad (although I rarely order then, since I know they'll be slammed).

The same rule always applies: if you can't afford a tip, you can't afford to eat out (or order in).

There are cases where someone is stranded and unable to get food themselves, though.

Take pity on the occasional colllege student trapped in a dorm room on a campus that's shut down for holiday, with no car, no refrigerator, and nothing to eat.

Our orders usually come out to around $14-$15, so I usually just give the driver $20 and tell them to keep it. I do it now becuase they looked so surprised after I did it the first time. I figured they have to put up with even more crap than the typical server, so their time and energy is worth even more to me.

I also only order from the same place, and it seems like my pizza gets here a little faster every time. ;)

When there's a delivery charge, you don't need to tip the drivers. In my area they get that money anyway, we only give them more if service is exceptional.

My aunt was a pizza driver and told me this.

I refuse to order pizza if I cannot tip the driver. No matter how far he comes. I ordered pizza last week from the local pizza place thats less than a block from me, just 1 med. pizza, 2 bottles of soda it was less than 15.00 I gave him the 20 and I was all set. Hes doing me a favor as I see it.

The further away from the delivery place the higher I tip. I once gave a driver something like 13.50 for a delivery. The order wasnt expensive, he drove about 2 miles in city traffic.

Pizza is clearly the only option for poor people. Delivery pizza. Expensive amounts of delivery pizza. If no one has the kindness to deliver to them without expecting a tip, they're totally implicit in poor people's starvation. Yeah.

What the fuck am I paying a delivery charge for, then?

It's $4.50 for a large pizza, yeah? And that goes up to $9.95 if I want it delivered.

If my total comes to something like $18.00 I'll tell them to keep the change, but only because I don't want change at the bottom of my bag.

I love Australia. I hate tipping. I only ever tip if I get above average service, and I mean more than just driving 3kms in the 15 degrees ceclius perfectly clear night to drop off a pizza. They didn't even cook it.

Well, yeah, if you're being charged a delivery fee it's different.

Most US pizza places that I recall do NOT charge extra for delivery, or charge only a dollar.

When I lived in AZ, we'd get the 3 medium 3 topping deal, and have it delivered. It would come to $18 and change. I'd give the driver $25 and tell them to keep the change. I was tipping because we were just lazy (Papa Johns was literally across the street from our development)

*wince* Once my ex ordered a pizza FOR me, and then didn't call me to let me know the "surprise" was coming until 30 seconds before the pizza guy hit my door.

I'd been left home alone (due to school) while the rest of my family was out of the province** visiting more family. I literally had NO money, not even change - I'd been left with re-heatable leftovers and such, and they were only gone for two days. (In retrospect, I should have been left SOMETHING for an emergency...but oh well.)

I had to close the door in the pizza guy's face after thanking him. The look of shock he got on his face when I didn't tip him lived with me for weeks. I so hate being a bad customer.

I have no idea what's wrong with people like those in your post.

Ok. I am kinda poor. I usually end up getting the medium pizzas that are 5 bucks (if you buy at least 3). I usually end up having to feed around 7 people (sometimes more). I live in a somewhat bad neighborhood. Only a couple restaraunts deliver to my neighborhood. The rest wont. We always make sure we have enough to tip the delivery person at least 5 bucks.

If it was $35.14...here at school, in Canada, where tipping the pizza guy isn't required, you'd get $37, which is the easiest nearest whole amount ($36 is just nasty.) Back home in America, I'd give you $40.

I always pay with a debit card, since I rarely HAVE cash on me, so when I call it in, I always ask if I can add a tip for the driver of usually 3-5 dollars on top of my bill, so I don't have to worry about digging through my room for spare change.
