Welcome to the CUSFS LJ Community! This is an open forum for both current and former CUSFSians meant for the open discussion of general geekery, CUSFS events, conventions, books, comics, zines, and every last thing you can stretch to fit into genre.
If you're new to CUSFS, you might appreciate this bit of information from our website:
Either SEE-YOU-ESS-EFF-ESS or CUSS-FUSS, whichever you prefer. Far be it from us to choose for you.
The Columbia University Science Fiction Society is a stalwart band of devoted science fiction enthusiasts who actively maintain the largest multimedia sci-fi library in New York. Additionally, we attend conventions, book signings, poetry and fiction readings, movie premieres, author lectures, and spend countless hours clustered around the television, viewing and philosophizing about some of the most popular (and esoteric) sci-fi TV fare ever broadcast.
Of course not. As you can see from the table on the back of this pamphlet, CUSFS sponsors dozens of events a year guaranteed to bring out your inner dork. We've got a library of over 10,000 science-fiction volumes, most of which can be searched via a web-browsable catalog. In addition, CUSFS enjoys a large laserdisc, DVD and CD collection. If you're looking for something in particular, please contact us -- if we don't have it, we can probably get it within two to three weeks. And the events and our entire multimedia library can be accessed for free (!) simply by purchasing a CUSFS membership.
Oh, great. Thanks a lot, pal. But if lameness comes from enjoying movies like Blade Runner, Brazil or The Matrix and authors like Philip K. Dick, Robert Heinlein and William Gibson, then we are lame. Fashionably lame.
No.
In fact, there are more of us than you can possibly imagine! CUSFS is well represented at nearly every sci-fi convention across the East Coast, from Boston to Philadelphia to our own quaint little Rye Brook, New York. If you'd rather read a book, watch a video, or just hang out, the lending library in 505-A Lerner can be your sanctuary. We've got something for just about everybody.

JUST WHO IS (are?) CUSFS, ANYWAY?

IS THAT ALL?

SOUNDS LAME.

ARE YOU JOKING?
No.
