Hai!
I hope that this post is okay, since it's more about the color of my hair than it is about its curliness. But I do have curly hair, and I would love to get some thoughts/advice from other curlies!

I'm getting my hair done on Thursday and I am thinking of having it dyed this color:

This is a pretty recent pic of what my hair currently looks like:

(Uhhh...just ignore the plastic plasma pistol that I'm holding in that pic...lol.)

I gots a couple more pics under here 'cuz, uh, I'm kinda a camwhore sometimes... )

Anyway, how do you guys think that color would look on me?

Also, mods, I hope it's okay that I put two pictures outside of the cut. I didn't see anything on the info page that said anything about that, but if it's not, let me know and I'll fix it! :-)

so i really want to color it. but i dont really know if i should go lighter or darker. i would want something permanent. i was thinking auburn but im not sure. please help with suggestions about color and brand. pics would be great also :)

here is a timeline of my hair from 07 to 08:

I have brown curly hair and want it dark.
How do I go about dying it without it looking fake and black?

Thanks for any and all suggestions.

I love this community, I watch it...:) Yay for curly girls and boys! Here is my question. I really want to dye my hair (first time) and I'm not sure what color to do! What do you think would be flattering? I kind of want to go blonde...but nobody thinks it's a good idea. I have very pale skin and the thought is it will wash me out.

More! )

Any thoughts? I am open to pretty much any natural color (meaning not blue or purple ect). Hair Cut suggestions would interest me as well.

ALSO - every time I put more than a speck of product in my hair my mom always tells me how greasy it looks. Any suggestions for light but still affective leave in products?

Hello lovelies, I need some serious help with my hair.  I don't know if this is the right place, but I just posted over in [info]beauty101 and I'm not sure if I'll get the answers I need.  Sorry if this is totally off-topic.

A little info (but if you don't want to read it, please skip to the photos and just give me some advice on my bolded questions!):

For the past three years, it has been dyed every shade of brown, auburn, red, burgundy, and black.  It has gotten to the point where I am not entirely sure what my natural hair color is.  From what I remember, it's a light brown, dull color that turns brassy with chlorine and blonde with sunlight...

So many things wrong with my hair.  ;o(  I don't know what to do anymore, so any suggestions besides " don't dye and let it grow out," "go to a salon," or "deep condition" would be greatly appreciated.

Do any of you folks suffer from hard water woes like I? At school (where I shampoo more and generally am not very nice to my curls) my hair is much softer and shiny, but now that I'm home (where I shampoo less and have a huge routine) my curls feels soooo dry and frizz extra easy. Could it be the water? I  haven't switched  products or that way I've been doing anything, just location.

It seems like everyone around here is getting it all lopped off, myself included. About two weeks ago I went in for a trim to take off the excessively dry bits (I was not expecting miracles, I know how bad flat irons and bleach were for my hair) but apparently the woman felt the need for me to start fresh.

I believe this is my first post in the community, but I have been an avid reader and commentor since entry. I love the support and advice that you all provide for one another, and I have learned alot in the month or so that I have joined. Some of the adivce I have read has lead me to cut my hair, which I had not done in years, due to tremendous fear, and post traumatic stress from terrible cuts. So here is my question: I am getting another cut in two weeks, and I am thinking of going even shorter ( shoulder length was a huge step for me to take 6 weeks ago on my last cut) How short should I go and what should i ask for to get more definition? I would like even more definition, if that is possible with my huge, frizz prone in between kind of curly hair. What should I ask for? What do you think about adding highlights, as I am getting color on the same day? any thoughts? Thank you all in advance for the comments and feedback! I am learning! here is a recent pick that is a good example of a typical day:

Heylo! I'm new and looking for help deciding what to do with my hair.  I'm having it cut and coloured next week and reckoned you might have some ideas for me...

I've been watching this community for some time and decided to come here for a little advice. a couple of months ago, i went to this salon my aunts friend recommended to me, planning to get my hair dark red with lighter highlights. needless to say, it didnt happen, and i ended up with brown and orange, extremely fried hair. im assuming they left the bleach in too long, because on some days, the lighter part of my hair looks like straw. the red has faded, and ive been trying to snip off the blondish/brown remains. my question to you: if youve ever been in a fried hair situation, how did you repair it?

today was a good hair day. big pics! )

my hair has been through a lot in the last 6-8 months! my curls have hung in there with me and i am actually having a good hair summer! (even though its been in the high 90s with miserable humidity) in december i used a brown semi-permanent dye and the color turned out to be almost black. i tried everything i could to get it out and ended up having to have it stripped and color added back in. that was february, and i have been dying the roots myself (with natural match 7w) since. here are some recent pictures so you can see how pleased i am that my curls werent destroyed in this whole nightmare!!

 im newww, hullo.

my hair has been a crazy curly afro ever since i was little, and its also been just about every color known to man. but i brought it back to a black/daaark brown (very close to my natural color) and my curl is once again restored and so easy to work with. my hair was blonde for a while but the upkeep was so tough plus my hair was dying from it. soooo here are pictures =)

So I posted awhile ago about whether or not I wanted to cut my hair short and I got mixed advice. I just decided to cut it off because it's summertime. I've actually gotten two haircuts since, the first one was chin length then the second I just cut it really short and then put highlights in it. Let me know what you think!

I don't know what to do with my hair.

here's the deal:
I used to straighten my hair everyday, and I miss it because it meant I could do a lot more fun things with it. But it's naturally wavy, and I want to leave it like that now...i'm lazy and don't have time to straighten it anymore. But it's getting so boring, and so long...I want a cut that's big and fun, but manageable, and I want to keep the length, if it looks good. I have really thick hair, so layers aren't a problem--the more interesting, the better, cause right now i'm boreddddd.
Suggestions for length, cut, bangs, etc? and for color, possibly...does anyone know of good vegan haircolor? I can't find any anywhere.

I'm the the market for a hairdryer. Recommendations por favor? I'm looking to spend around $70 for one (haha, getting paid on wednesday). I'm in LA so I have most stores at my disposal, but I'm cool with buying it online.

Also, what hair dyes brands do you guys suggest? I've never dyed my hair before and I would like something that won't kill my hair.

I do like it, BUT I think it is too OLD for me, how do you think I could make it a bit 'younger', cut or colour- wise?
I told my hairdresser this and he just cut a random bit off the back to make it asymetrical :/ )
but I dunno about that.

thanksss!

p.s. this is me and my sister, we now have ridiculously similar hair!

I cut her hair for her :)

I posted this in my own journal but thought it would be perfect to post here as well as it shows off my curly hair in various colors and cuts! I'm a natural blonde but until recently have been brunette with red and bits of black. So I had decided to go back to my blonde roots (literally speaking.)

Like I've also explained before, I had donated my hair just last year and am currently growing it out. My goal for my hair is to hit around my butt. Before I donated it, it hit at my waist so this goal is very possible for me and may only take a few years as I have fast growing hair. It's already past my shoulders from being just shorter than chin length and at an angle cut.

I had my hair appointment last night and we got pretty far actually. I had my hair stripped, that didn't take long at all. My hair apparently wants to be back to its natural color badly. Then she put on the blonde/brown color all over after having foiled in the highlights. She then put on a quick "cover up" for all the red that's still clinging to my hair until we can get back to it next week. You always have to give your hair a nice break so you don't push it to the point where it wants to fall out. My hair feels really awesome actually, having thick, coarse hair comes in handy in this situation. So the bottom of my hair is a bit darker since it had all that red, chocolate brown, and black in it. That'll be fixed on Tuesday though and Ashley (my stylist) said it would be no charge for that second round.

So I thought I would show a few pictures!
