"In God we trust."   ... tell that to the hindus.

of the United States of America
and to the Republic for which it stands
one Nation under God, indivisible
with liberty and justice for all.

I love how we seperate Government from Religion.

Since when did "we" all believe in God?

It's not anti-Bush, but it's closely related.

Sorry...but last time I checked...I thought this country was supposed to be a democracy

Republic is not the opposite of democracy.

I was very disappointed by the courts verdict to leave under god in the pledge. No way was that an unbiased decision. Since when are we all under God? This was a good subject to bring to people's attention

i hope this topic wasnt posted for everyone to be brainwashed and agree with what someone posts...because frankly that is fucking booooring.

well this country was "founded"(really by the indians but the english take credit) by people who wanted to worship GOD freely and really didnt understand that people had any other religions that didnt include GOD. by keeping this in the pledge it is a way of keeping americas history in the pledge and to remind you why this country was "founded" and what not...

WE HAVE THE RIGHT NOT TO SAY THE PLEDGE.

I EXERCISE THIS RIGHT FREELY EVERY MORNING.

i dont agree with the pledge and what it states so i dont say it, you have such a problem dont say it. so you wont be saying "under god". bc i aint sure in the fuck under god.

love your land, hate your government.

well thats true. I don't choose to say the pledge either. But when you have a kindergartner learning the pledge and they hear "under god" every fucking day it effects them. We are old enough to make descisions and form opinions but younger kids arn't and its not fair to brainwash them. I realize that its naive to think kids arn't brainwashed but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try and limit it in our school systems. If people wanna say under god by all means say it but the point is that it shouldn't be actively taught to kids.

well, you were "brainwashed" as a child correct? and now you noe the difference. to children i dont think they even care. when they are old enough to disagree or agree they will be old enough to relize if they were "brainwashed" no? children dont even pay attention to what they are saying, they have short attention spans.

I completely agree. Although I might rather live in the United States than anywhere else, we're ridiculously stupid with things like that.

haha...I just recently posted a huge thing about that in here. I agree...christianity is actually a minority in this country, so I really don't understand the "in god we trust" because i don't put my trust in god.

when this country was founded everyone believed in God. no one doubted him like the propaganda says to do these days. it was a conformity to believe in God rather than these days when the conformity is to believe hes not real. to change something that old would be unbelievably fucked up.

In God We Trust is a late edition "forced" by the "threat" of Communism. 1950s I believe. Anyway, it all sucks.

I know. What ever happened to the seperation of church and state?

And with the pledge of allegiance, I don't care if they leave the word "God" in it or anything, but if they do, we should have a choice whether to do it or not. It was fucked up how I got forced into saying that at school when I'm an athiest.
