    Interpretatio Cthulihiana
I'm currently trying to establish links between the Cthulhu Mythos and traditional mythologies and folklore - make guesses at which entity of the Cthulhu Mythos has similarities with/lurks behind which entity from classical stories.

You can help by going to the project page and adding your own materials to the sub-pages. The project is part of a larger wiki which anyone can edit - no registering is needed. Note that this is not intended as a scholarly project - just a bit of fun and an aid to those who wish to tell their own stories.

Ken Hite Interview at Flames Rising
Recently, we had the chance to sit down with industry veteran Kenneth Hite, who is a horror game designer, author and columnist. You may have read some of Ken Hite's columns through Weird Tales or Out of the Box at Indie Press Revolution.

In this interview, we talk a little bit about the Origins-award winning title Tour de Lovecraft and the recent release of The Day After Ragnarok, horror as a genre versus mood, the Windy City, his upcoming projects and much, much more!

Stop by the Flames Rising website to read our interview with Ken Hite.

Curse of the Yellow Sign: Digging for a Dead God
In May of 1939, somewhere in the jungles of Africa, a small band of soldiers have stumbled across something ancient. Something terrible.

And they are about to suffer the consequences.

Digging for a Dead God is the first in a series of Call of Cthulhu scenarios all linked by the Yellow Sign.

The Curse of the Yellow Sign scenarios contain no blasphemous books, no monsters, no cultists and no Library Use rolls. Only ordinary humans confronted with the true nature of the universe. They are designed to be played in a single evening with limited preparation and maximum impact, filled with the kind of ruthless game master techniques you'd expect from John Wick.

Digging for a Dead God is available for only $5.00 at RPGNow.com.

You know you want a cartoon octopus warning you about eminent doom
A friend of mine is selling rad paintings of octopi dispensing wisdom of
the ages, including good ol' Howard himself.

Please take a moment to look, and claim one of these for your home.

'Immortal' jellyfish swarming across the world [Telegraph.co.uk]
The Turritopsis Nutricula is able to revert back to a juvenile form once it mates after becoming sexually mature. Marine biologists say the jellyfish numbers are rocketing because they need not die.

Dr Maria Miglietta of the Smithsonian Tropical Marine Institute said: "We are looking at a worldwide silent invasion."

    Cthentacle
So, there is a new "card game" available from Postmortem Studios:

    Cthentacle

The warning is a nice touch:

Cthentacle is a deeply, deeply adult game. I'm not mucking around here, this is depraved filthy comedy that you should feel deeply ashamed about buying. It is not even remotely for minors or anyone under the age of eighteen. Don't say I didn't warn you and don't whinge.

    Shadows of Cthulhu Review
We have a new review of the Shadows of Cthulhu RPG from Reality Deviant Publications available at the Flames Rising website:

Shadows of Cthulhu (True20) RPG Review

I was so excited to learn that an RPG treatment of the sanity-blasting horror of H. P. Lovecraft had been made available using the True 20 rules that I went online and bought a copy within days of the discovery. Shadows of Cthulhu, designed by Russell Brown and published by Reality Deviant Publications, is a great way to introduce D&D gamers to a taste of something different without forcing them to learn an entirely new game system. In that vein its important top note that Shadows is not a complete game in itself: a copy of the Green Ronin Publishing’s True 20 Revised Rules will be required in order to play Shadows of Cthulhu.
    - Excerpt of Review by Bill Bodden

We are on the hunt for more reviewers. Check out the details in our Reviewer Rewards Program and feel free to use the Contact page to send me any questions.

Age of Cthulhu: Death in Luxor Now Available
In the age of the pharaohs, a great and unfathomable evil rose from the murky depths to cast its gibbous shadow over ancient Egypt. At the cost of his empire, Ramesses III imprisoned the horror beneath the sands of Luxor, where it has slumbered ever since.

In 1924, a team of visiting archeologists unearthed the last remaining testament of that ancient mystery, only to unleash a terror from out of time. Now death stalks the dusty streets of Luxor and a new age of horror is at hand. Can your investigators succeed where the mightiest of pharaohs have failed? Or will they fall victim to Luxor's secret past?

Set throughout the globe and torn from the pages of the hidden history of the world, Age of Cthulhu adventures bring new secrets and mind-bending horrors to your 1920's Call of Cthulhu game.

Death in Luxor is available at the Flames Rising RPGNow Shop.

    Cthulhu Games
So, it is a good time to be a Cthulhu Gamer. Lots of very cool new stuff has hit the shelves in the last couple of weeks. I did a review of the new Cthulhu Rising board game last week.

If you are into LARP games, Skirmisher Publishing just came out with Sight Unseen for Cthulhu Live 3rd Edition. I haven't had the chance to read it yet, but I'll get a review posted soon.

Chaosium opened up the Call of Cthulhu RPG so other publishers can create adventures and story seeds recently. This has been a very good thing. There are some very cool things happening at Super Genius, including Murder of Crows and the just released The Doom from Below.

If you play the Arkham Horror board game by Fantasy Flight, they just added a couple of new free character sheets...Tycho and Gabe from Penny Arcade. They are a tad unbalanced, but who care? Half the fun is bringing in characters from On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness and going crazy with 'em.

    Eight-armed animal preceded dinosaurs
Scientists have discovered what they believe is an eight-armed creature, which colonised a large section of the world's oceans over 300 million years before the first dinosaurs emerged.

The findings represent the first comparable animal fossils from the Ediacaran Period, 635 to 541 million years ago, which appear in two drastically different preservation environments - black shale of South China and quartz rock of South Australia.
