AboutThese awards are for all FanFiction for the three CSI shows: CSI: Crime Scene Investigations, CSI: Miami, and CSI: New York.
Please join/watch the community. I will not be sending out announcements to all the CSI Communities on LJ. It bogs down everyone's f-list and can be annoying to the communities.
As in all award shows there are rules and guidelines to follow.
- As tempting as it is, please find works other than your own to nominate.
- Please don't inundate the awards with your favorite author by placing all their stories in the various categories. Really focus on great stories that fit the category. There are some really well known authors out there that deserve recognition, but there are also some smaller authors that deserve it, too. Seeing JaneQP’s “Generic Story” listed in Angst, Fantasy, Crossover, Snickers, H/C is a little disconcerting for anyone. Pick the best category for the story, and go for it!
- Stories that were nominated in previous years cannot be nominated this year. Please take a look at the previous years’ nominees 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008
- If a story was nominated for WIP in past years and is now finished it can be nominated in one of the other categories, but it cannot be nominated as WIP again.
- You may only nominate one story for each category
- An author may have more than one story nominated, as long as it isn't in the same category (Ex: JaneSmith has a story nominated in Case File and Nick/Sara – that is fine – JaneSmith can't have two stories in Nick/Sara)
- Only one entry per author, per category. If someone nominates an author for a category in which they have already been nominated, then the author must choose which story they want to be in that category.
- If a story fits more than one category, then it can go in both categories. Stories will be checked for basic subject listings, and removed from the Nominations & Voting Lists if they do not fit the category (ie; An angst nominated story listed as a comedy at FF.net, a GSR nominated story listed as Grillows at GeekFiction, etc.). However, we have found the need to limit the # of times a single story may be nominated. We want to give everyone a chance to be seen, and all the authors (old & new) deserve a chance. When a story is nominated in more than 2 categories, the author will be given the choice of which categories it will remain in for the final Nominations List.
- In order to vote for a story in a specific category, the story must be complete. If the story is not complete it may be nominated for the WIP category. The only exception would be for the Series category; as long as the 3 completed stories requirement has been met, it may have another story as a WIP and still be nominated for the Series category.
- All categories are open to any rating and any style – excluding specific pairings it doesn't matter if the story is slash, het, or gen. Specific Pairings will be split up by Het & Slash
- Each category will be separated by Show – Exception: Crossover will be all 3 shows.
-Collaborative authors are a unique Identity and can have their stories nominated in the same category as one of the author’s individual stories.
-All stories must be available to the public throughout the nominations and voting stages of the awards. Any story found to be removed from public viewing will be removed from the Nominations & Voting Lists.
-Please look over the WIP Nominations list before nominating a story. If your nomination has already been made, try to think of your second favorite.
Angst: stories just filled with lots of tension and high drama – (3 Categories - Vegas, Miami, NY)
AU/Fantasy: stories set in an Alternate Universe; same characters different world, & stories that are outside the realm of CSI (zombies, vampires, fairies, etc) - (3 Categories - Vegas, Miami, NY)
Case File: stories that are centered around the case, not the characters (3 Categories - Vegas, Miami, NY)
Character Study: stories centering around a single character; an inside look into their psyche. There is a category of “Other.” If a Character doesn't get at least two stories nominated, then the ones nominated will be placed into the “Other” category. - (3 Categories - Vegas, Miami, NY)
Crossovers (with Other CSI)/Crossovers (with Other Shows): stories that crossover all three shows (Vegas/Miami; Miami/NY; etc) or crossover with other shows (Vegas/WOT; Miami/Nip and Tuck; NY/NCIS) - (2 Categories - All three shows for each)
Drabbles: stores that are short character points and are no longer than 150 words - (3 Categories - Vegas, Miami, NY)
Episode Specific: Story related to a specific episode or a tag for an episode - (3 Categories - Vegas, Miami, NY)
Humor/Parody: story is written for sole purpose of humor or parody - (3 Categories - Vegas, Miami, NY)
Series: is for stories that have three or more fully finished stories relating to a single storyline or arch. - (3 Categories - Vegas, Miami, NY)
Song: is for stories where a song is used to tell the story or inserted into the fic. - (3 Categories – Vegas, Miami, NY)
WIP: is for stories that are still being written, with the only exception being that they must be regularly updated. Do not nominate a story that hasn't been updated in over six months - (3 Categories - Vegas, Miami, NY)
Romance/Het & Romance/Slash: (Specific Relationship Based) The Pairings are broken down by ‘Ships, in the categories of Het and Slash from each show. Even if the character has left the show they will still be listed. There is a category of “Other” for those odd Pairings that pop up. If a Pairing doesn't get at least two stories nominated, then the ones nominated will be placed into the “Other” category. - (3 Categories - Vegas, Miami, NY)
PWP/Het - PWP/Slash: stories with no plot, just smut. - (3 Categories - Vegas, Miami, NY)
3 or Moresomes: smut stories containing more than the standard pairing. - (3 Categories - Vegas, Miami, NY)
- Reply to the post – stating the category, author, title, and link to the story. Do not send a link to any password sites. The link should go directly to the story. No Anonymous Posts – Any nominations submitted anonymously will not be added to the list.
OR
- Email nominations to: csi.fanfic.awards@gmail.com stating the category, author, title, and a link to the story. Also, to remove anonymity, please attach your screenname within the body of the email to identify yourself.
*All nominations & voting will be screened and kept secret under the time honored practice of secret balloting. Only the mods will know who you nominated &/or voted for in these awards.
