Why hello there people, this is a mod here with the news of the hour. You've probably heard about this whole delete madness/virus thing going on in LJ and other places. (Though I've only heard of it hitting LJ, but I admit my range out there isn't too far.)

You haven't heard about it? Here's some information.
What it all adds up to is a bunch of hackers breaking into journals, deleting comms/journals and leaving posts about how they're closing up shop and moving. Clicking the links in these posts lead to viruses and malware.

The message says something along the lines of the following:

Dear friends, I, as the maintainer of the community, have to inform you that, due to the recent tragic events, I've decided to stop using LJ as a platform for my community. From now on, all new depression-related materials should be posted to the new community I've recently created, as for old posts, you will be able to find them there.

As I said, the links in these posts lead to trouble. So watch yourselves out there and don't click them if you see it anywhere! And if you see this post twice, I'm also posting it to the cafe.

Is not what the Lunatic Cafe was intended for. It's a bit annoying to find people doing stuff like this when the rules are on the front page and can easily be read. Just saying.

 Hello. I have not officially made a rp post in any of the luntic cafe sites but I recently joined the one on insane journal because it was easier to not have to keep logging in and out on this username. I've rped for a long time and my characters can be kind of strange but Im confused as to what type of characters are allowed. I read the rules and everything but Im still a little in wonder of how i should play my characters. Can someone give me a clue as to what to do? I'm not usually this slow, but i just finished finals and my brain is fried like an egg that i wish i could be eatting right now :{

Like the subject says, no one is in trouble. I'm just throwing in a notice that the cafe opened another "branch". Why? Because, well, it can.
Yes, all are still kept an eye on by the mods. We may or may not always play, but do not let it stop you from playing. So even if it seems like we're asleep, we are modding and taking care of problems when we see them as best we can.

Ugh....I hate spam, but stuff of this nature is even more despicable.

I had an interesting idea for a cafe post for one of my sockpuppets but it was dependent on something unlikely. Specifically that the type of character in mind had never ever been used in the cafe before. Rather than skim back through a guhzillion entries, I did a directory search on the cafe and, much to my surprise, no one has apparently ever used one of these in the cafe.

That or the account was deleted or left the cafe altogether.

While I was poking around I discovered there are two communities friended to the comm. One is a former sockpuppet of mine I turned into a community (forgot it was a member here) and the other I didn't really look into. There's a lot of borderline naked icons in the friendslist, the default ones are the ones that pop up in such a search, and there's an Osama Bin Laden sockpuppet as well.

Actually have come across that one before, in the Al Qeadea RPG; better terrorism funded through bake sales!

To end that, it's a bit diheartening to see how many journals are friended to the comm that are no longer active. Though some of them never were. There's over 200 that were setup but no one ever posted to them...though they may've used them only to post to the cafe and other such type places.

I am still in the process of setting up my account and while skimming through the LC I noted that there is apparently another Dark Beast. My concern in this, given that there seems to be a multitude of Beasts there but only the one Dark, surrounds whether or not I am welcome due to this factoid.

Is the Dark Beast among you the only one for a specific reason or is my entry to your quirky establishment quite all right?

In fact, this should be done for most if not all fandoms in general when things are "new". It's polite. It's common courtesy in RP land.

Also put a spoiler warning in posts if the threads happen to contain them. And try to remember, not everyone is up to date. Don't spoil things for them unless they don't mind.

Slides out of the hammock setup in the corner and wanders over to Bed Bath & Beyond for a quick shower. Comes out after ½ an hour in a little robe and wanders into the GAP. Another 5 minutes and he's out again heading over to Starbuck's. Pops out positively vibrating and heads back over to Bed Bath & Beyond for something else. Hat in place, leaves there and wanders over to Barnes & Noble for something to read.
