Purpose

A place for those who enjoy cross-generational pairings or just gravitate to Harry and many of the adult characters. Fic, art, and meta are all welcome.

Membership

In order to maintain a high standard of quality, membership is restricted and will be granted at the moderators' discretion. Because we realize we only know of a fraction of the talent in this fandom, our members may sponsor other writers and artists for membership. To do so, send an email to admin @ etc.slashcity.net with the subject: Sponsoring [candidate's name]

Please include:

Your LJ username
The candidate's LJ username
Links to 1-3 of the candidate's fics/art
A sentence or two on why we should invite this author/artist. (Their grasp of character, lyrical writing, intricate plots, etc.) If you can't think of anything, maybe you should reconsider sponsoring them.

We will then consider the candidate for membership. While we will do our best to be fair and open-minded, this is still a subjective process. Please do not ask for membership for yourself, and members, please do not flood the moderators with sponsorships. Stick with one or two recommendations to start with. Readers, feel free to add

crossing_harry to your friends list.

Posting and Commenting

All posts must relate to Harry paired -- romantically and/or sexually, including pre-slash -- with an older man. The age difference must be at least ten years. (In cases where the character's age is uncertain, use your best judgment. Despite the 'maths incident', there is evidence in the books that puts Bill and Charlie at much older than JKR intended them to be, so Harry/Bill and Harry/Charlie are fine.)

The main pairing must be m/m slash. Het and femmeslash are allowed as secondary pairings, so long as the focus is on Harry and another man.

Threesomes are allowed, so long as they involve Harry, and one of his partners is at least ten years older or younger (AU, time-travel, and a younger original character are all acceptable ways to make Harry the older partner). Threesomes must be m/m/m.

No flaming. Constructive criticism is welcome should the author/artist wish it. Keep discussions civil.

No kink-bashing. There are no restrictions on content other than the ones laid out here, so if you don't like the kink, don't read the fic.

Use appropriate warnings and ratings.

Cut-tag all art and any fic/meta which is longer than 500 words.

This is an adult community -- you must be over 18 to join. We're not going to require age statements, but we will be checking member's info pages.

Themes

Each month will have a new theme, chosen to inspire longer fic, polished art, and discussion. You may, of course, post outside the theme at any time. In addition to the monthly theme, there will be a weekly 'short' challenge, which may or may not fit with the theme. You may write any length fic for either challenge, or combine two or more challenges.

The Challenge Hat

Anyone who signs up for the Challenge Hat will have their name put in a hat (or hat-like object). We will draw a name once a week, and that person will be responsible for choosing the next week's challenge.

Challenge Hat fics may be long, but short works and quick sketches are encouraged. They may also be combined with the monthly theme.
