This is a community to share your cross stitch works with other interested people. We're also here to help with any embroidery questions you have!

The moderators for this community are [info]bekki_n, [info]cathouse_blues and [info]emohdee - please be aware that you can contact any of us by emailing bekki_n and cathouse_blues at livejournal dot com and siran underscore drauka at yahoo dot com

Although this community is dedicated to cross-stitch, please don't feel that you have to stick to cross stitch! Other types of embroidery or similar crafts are welcomed.

Please however, go to the LJ FAQ for all Livejournal questions.

************

There are only a few rules here: Cut Tag any pictures, don't advertise things and don't share copyrighted material.

Pictures of your work are welcome, however I do ask that you use lj cut tags (go to the FAQ and livejournal specific tags section for help).

Don't advertise things includes advertising your auctions. If you want to advertise a community, use LJ's official page at [info]community_promo. If you'd like to organise a swap, please feel free and if you're giving stuff away, please only request payment for postage. Failure to follow these rules will result in your post being removed.

Don't share copyright material: Most, though not all, kits, charts and patterns have a statement reading something like "permission granted to copy/photocopy for personal use." "Personal use" means so you can write on it, mark it up, use highlighter, whatever – usually so you don't damage the original – but it does not mean you can give away or sell photocopies, scans, electronic files or other copies of the product for someone else's "personal use".

It's fine to post an image of the product (behind an lj-cut), or a link on where to find it, but please do not post that you will share a chart or pattern, nor links to "sharing sites". The moderators will remove such posts or comments, and those who post them will receive a warning the first time. Repeated offense will result in banning from [info]cross_stitch.

NOTE: Please be kind to your fellow members who may be under eighteen or who may read the community at work and restrict your icons to a "G" rating. If you have any question about where your icon might fall, please feel free to contact a moderator.

I got in stitching on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (today) of this week. Took it really easy today so as not to stress my hands. I think I got some good work done though.

Hello everybody! I was so thrilled when I found this community. At last, people who can understand when I say "STOP KNOTTING YOU STUPID THREAD!"(I unfortunately say this a lot.)
Here's some of my work- finished and framed, finished and unframed, and in progress:

The Woolshed )
My biggest piece to date. Took me ages.

Melissa's birth sampler )

Gumnut Babies Sampler )

Such fun!
The baby that the last sampler is for was due yesterday, but hasn't turned up yet. I must stitch madly, for he can't be far away!

3rd-Sep-2008 12:52 pm - WIPs and ?s
Here's my updates on WIPs. I've got a few that aren't here, but this is the bulk of the change over the last few weeks.

Here's the links to pics )

Once I get Ruth 1:16 done, I'm going to start up a Mirabilia pattern. And once I get Tempest done I'm going to get started on another TW pattern. Just have to decide which of the ones I have I'll start.

BTW: anyone who works using kits: What do you do to keep track of your floss? I've always used hole punched index cards and looped the floss over, but this seems to shape the floss over time. Plus many of the new kits have the floss presorted on "cards" but the cards are often just plain paper and not really able to hold up. I'd love to know what other folks are doing.  :-)

Happy Stitching!!

Disney-LionKing Hope
I couldn't decide whether to post these WIPs since I'm so close to finishing, but I just couldn't resist. So, here ya go! I'm so excited - this will be my first finish ever! Please keep rooting for me! :)

Large pictures will nom your dial-up. )

Note: You can click the piccies twice for really big piccies.
Note #2: Basically, the top half is done - D.O.N.E. DONE. :-D Well, almost, I have to finish the backstitching on the wing. The bottom half needs a few colored stitches on the cookies along the bottom, then the backstitching.

I grew tired of working on the stool, and decided to take a break half-way through,

Whigrose Stool )
so I followed the links to some free patterns that were posted here.  I'm sure you'll recognize these and I apologize for not giving proper credit to those who posted the links.

These will be holiday gifts to family members.

small projects )
And then I finally framed and mailed the wedding announcement I was working on earlier this year.

But now, I'm back to working on the stool.  It's gotten a bit boring and I'm envious of the multi-colored projects I've seen posted here lately, but I want to finish and get it out of my hands.

I haven't done a lot on Autumn in my Garden this past week- I wanted to do something that could be done quickly. I finished "Bite Me" by Dolly Mamas in just over nine hours!

20th-Aug-2008 09:00 pm - Round and round...
stitchery
The top line of overlapped circles is done in Cirque des Cercles. I figure I'm going do work the four sides and then start filling in all the spaces with all the tiny little circles and put the border on last. I also think I'm going to keep this one for myself. Which is weird for me.

The few semi-decent pictures I managed. )

Bronze
This hasn't earned a silver medal yet, but then again I lost the paper where I wrote down my super detailed goals and I don't remember what section I specifically want to finish. So I am just jumping all around.   I also took a stitching break and wound lots and lots of thread onto bobbins.  Very relaxing...

This is not a great picture, it seems really washed out to me, but here you go anyway :)  The entire area to the right of the Sea Bed Hotel sign (center, vertical brown sign since the details are much easier to see live) is DONE!  When I did the billboard, I added all the eyes and finished a couple of places that needed backstitching.  Also, you can see that I touched the left wall!  YAY!

I also got over some hurdles that were annoying me.  Mostly the "sky" (top of the ocean).  That section is a PAIN.  And I made progress on the bus fish (bottom left) and he was also driving me crazy.

Part of me is thinking I need to start a new project because there is no way I can take this and Wish Fairy into the framer together!  These are going to be so expensive to frame!

18th-Aug-2008 05:48 pm - Bliss Fairy WIP @ 15hrs.
default
First progress report!  I've got a pretty good chunk of stem going on, and about half of the first flower.  No hint of a fairy yet, but I'm building up to it.  :)

Yay!  I'm happy with how fast she seems to be going; I feel like for the first WIP shot I've got a pretty good amount done.  I decided I really like stitching on evenweave, too.  The needle seems to find the holes a lot easier, even though there's twice as many of them... not sure how that works but all that matters is I'm having fun, right?  :)

Lady Liberty, Statue of Liberty
I finished the eighth section of Papillon's Mystery early this morning, about 1am actually.  If I'd realized how much frogging I'd end up doing on the sixtha nd seventh sections, I would have made it my silver!

Anyway, without further ado, sections 1 through 8 of Papillon Creation's Mystery SAL:

This geisha is an "on the go" project. It primarily has been stitched on vacation and trips home. It's small so it's easy to travel with.

This is a Christmas tree skirt so the material is huge and kind of a pain to deal with, but it's so darn cute.

15th-Aug-2008 11:06 am - Fish City - I did the billboard!!!
Bronze
and OMG it took forever!!! You all gave me amazing suggestions and I thank you all for that. I loved "Dolph Finn" so much - hee hee!   But then one night, a thought popped into my head... Stay in School! HA! Corny and lame I know but it works with my quirky sense of humor...

I have ripped out the letters SO SO SO many times! ARG! but I finally have a version that I don't hate. In fact, I think I like it.   I prefer the long sttich in the word "in" to the singular backstitches in the other words, and might change them, but I think I am ready to say that it is done!

I need honest opinions - what do you all think? I feel like something in missing in the bottom right corner... Maybe turn the "oo" into a smiley face? Or is ok to just have some blank space?

I have also done a lot of backstitching and eyes! - Once I finish the backspace around the billboard, and a few more bubbles, the entire right side is done!  And I have made amazing progress on the left side - including a section that was driving me nuts!!
15th-Aug-2008 11:00 am - My very first cross-stitch plus wips

I didn't sign up for the Stitching Olympics because I don't do well with deadlines. Even self-imposed ones. :-) But that doesn't mean I haven't been stitching up a storm for the last month or so.

cut for lots of pics )

I do like keeping 3 or 4 projects going at once. It keeps me from getting bored with any single one of them.

stitching
My god, I've remembered why I put HMS Victory to one side in the first place. The fractionals. I'm starting to think I'll never do a single solid stitch again. And, of course, because I'm lousy at fractionals, I've wound up with the texture on the hull being all lumpy. Grr.

I even wound up completing the sails, even though they aren't part of my gold medal goals, just to take a break from the damn hull!
