| So, I went to the LNS. Again. Because I needed floss. It's starting to look like AC Moore is safer on my pocketbook for floss-buying. They always have the floss I need and basic supplies, though the likelihood of finding a pattern I would want to do is low. The LNS (Double Cross in Knoxville, TN for the record), on the other hand, has lots of gorgeous fabrics and flosses and racks and racks of lovely patterns. And I have to check out the new arrivals, of course. This time I actually managed to escape for just over $30. The cat pattern I couldn't remember the name of is Mosey 'n Me's "Folk Art Cat." And I picked up Cross for Anne by Ink Circles. I also managed to get the fabric and floss for the La-D-Da Old Glory Angel. And next week, I get a bonus from work on my paycheck. This could be dangerous. Cross-posted to waya | |

| I'm well into the I in the Vickery Collection "Fish" design. I'm grumbling enough about all the kelp that I think I'm going to take a break and work on a different, smaller project for a few days once I've got the I done. I've been taking pictures of my progress, but it's been a heckuva week or so and I haven't had a chance to post. I also haven't got as much stitch done as I'd like. The friend whose birthday this is for is going to have to wait a bit for it. Luckily, he understands. He's got two pieces of mine and often asks if I'll make him something else. ( Progress pictures! )I also made the mistake of going to the LNS last week in search of some extra floss I'm going to need. I seriously underestimated the amount of one particular shade of green in this piece. While I was there, I bought four more patterns. I couldn't find a link to the Jeweled Scarab by Dimples. It's the special Nashville Market edition. I also ordered Eve by La D Da and a pattern whose name I can't remember that the sweetie adored. Sort of an American rustic cat. I also got my linens from Silkweaver! I'm so very excited! I'm going to be doing Cirque des Cercles on their 32-count linen in Thunderstorm. I also got a few of the Solos minis and my mind has already come up with uses for three. One that's a lovely blue is going to be the background for the French Country Lark pattern, which I'm going to do in a deeper blue. I will try to get pictures of the solos once lighting is better. And now I'll stop nattering! Cross-posted to waya | |

| Not long ago, I went into my LNS and wound up feeling like I didn't want to go back in. The person that was working was terse and seemed sort of uncomfortable with me. I still found a couple of things I wanted, so I bought them and left thinking I would end up doing all my shopping online or at the big box stores. Recently, however, I started looking at Ink Circles again and saw that my LNS was listed as a distributor, so I thought I'd give it another go. Boy, am I glad I did. They have sort of a Saturday gathering of stitchers and that was going on. The atmosphere was friendly and there was a lot of laughter. The owner of the shop was there and she was an absolute doll, helping me figure out where the things I wanted were and encouraging me to come in the next weekend to stitch with everyone. One of the ladies that was visiting for the day had brought her HAED work and it was absolutely amazing. I left feeling very welcomed and excited to go by next weekend with my new WIP. And, of course, I bought stash and some of the John James platinum needles to see if they stand up to my corrosive fingers any better than nickle-plated steel ones. The new WIP is Fish from the Vickery collection. It's meant as a gift for a friend. The stash I picked up was Celtic Creation, also from the Vickery Collection, Cirque des Cercles from Ink Circles because, I couldn't resist, and Love Letters from Ewe & Eye & Friends. | |

| I bought some things off ebay, and needed to finish my WIP Dragon and the snow leopards before I can start it :D Sleeping beauty kit :D My next big project. | |
|
| Why hello there. I come bearing stash! I'd have an updated picture of "Always Together" but I've only gotten a chunk on the upper left corner of page 8 done, & feel this is inadequate for an update post. ( Mother, Your Love )( Wild Thing Birth Record )Here's to hoping it all goes according to plan! | |

| Hi, I thought I'd post here about how my stitching's going and ask a couple of questions. ( Roses ) | |
|
| I didn't have a chance to post until today, but I did finish Knit Wit just in time for Christmas. Mom loved it. I got a couple of great cross stitch items as presents, too. And a bit of Christmas Past for this entry, too- a stocking I did several years ago. | |

| My favorite local craft shop is closing down. It's been around for decades and the original owner passed on. His widow took over and has been running it for a long time, but she's ready to retire. They've been trying to sell the store, but haven't yet done so. I'm going to miss the place.
At the same time, they're having a farewell sale with everything 50% off.
I bought all the floss for my next several projects, 100 skeins in all, for less than $20. I also bought some specialty fibers and enough linen for several projects. Plus four patterns. Mirabilia's "Winter In My Garden" and three different angel designs, Nordic Angel, Japanese Angel and Shalom Angel. I think they're all by the same publisher. I'm likely to remove the wings on the Japanese angel at the least, simply because they look a little incongruous and I like the rest of the design quite a lot.
I've put aside the Fairy Tale Sampler until after Christmas so I can get at least one more small gift done. I'm stitching Teresa Wentzler's "Stretch" the Magic Dragon bookmark for a fantasy-reading bookworm friend. Here's hoping I can get it done in the same time I got most of the work on the Fairy Tale Sampler done.
|
| I totally botched up Vintage Shoes. I've had to put it into my UFO pile for now...I knew I should have started it earlier. | |
|
| I have all the bits and bobs to finish "Once Upon a Time" and to do Dragon Dreams' "Fairy Tale Sampler!" The beads arrived on Saturday (and oh WOW do I have an excess of Mill Hill beads now...) and the Caron floss arrived today. Joy! | |
|
| I went to the Knitting and Stitching show yesterday at Harrogate. Lots of fun and I spent a fortune! Much less cross stitch this year, more in the way of fibre art, patchwork and knitting. I'll show you my new stash when I get round to taking a photo but my best bargain of the day was this: Regal TigerFor £29.99 when it should have been £40.00. | |
|
| My walmart got rid of their cross-stitch section which is sad, but I was able to get 2 kits for just $1 each. I have a picture of one of them, and the other one was needlepoint wedding with white flowers on it. ( This one ) | |
|
| I couldn't pass it up. After drooling over it for two nights in a row, I gave in & purchased Earth, Fire, Air & Water - Chart Pack from HAED. It's four charts, on sale at $33.75. ^^* Just opened the PDF & discovered it is 94 pages long! Oh goodness. I guess I really didn't know what I was getting myself into! Obviously actually buying the fabric & floss for this is going to have to wait, maybe until after my college graduation in 2011 at this rate. I'd like to finish "Always Together" first, & maybe get another page or two done on "Fire & Ice" before embarking on another giant project (or in this case, four). But I absolutely couldn't resist adding this to my stash. <3 & speaking of "Always Together," I plan on posting a progress picture by the weekend. I've already put a week's worth of effort into it, & the center page is about half done! - Tags:stash

| I made my first purchase from ABCstitch.com recently and I was a little less than satisfied with the service I received. I don't know if this was normal for that website or if I was expecting things to go a lot faster than they actually did. I ordered 3 kits on October 8th, all of which said "ships in 7 to 14 days". On the 22nd, I still had not received an email that my package had been shipped, so I emailed them. They responded saying they were still waiting on my items to arrive to them, but then they mailed my package later that day. And it took a week to get here. I just got it today. From New Hampshire to Tennessee. I understand that they have to order things to fill the order they get. And I understand that this last week checking the mail box could have been the post more than the website themselves. But I was wondering what some of your opinions of this website are. Does it normally take 3 weeks to receive a package from them? The three pieces I ordered are for my mother's birthday at the end of November. I'm planning on getting one more to do for her for Christmas. So I'm going to go ahead and order that last one now so it will have plenty of time to get here before the holidays, but I'm not sure I'll use this website in the future. And, so this isn't a text only post... ( WIP: Blossoms and Butterflies )( My order from ABCstitch. Happy Birthday, Mom ) | |

| I finished the Antique Autos the other night. It looks good, and I think my dad will love it! | |

| I had S.E.X. for the last few days. *blush*
Well, the last few days I've gone on a shopping spree. It happens when I'm in a stitching groove. I heard from a friend of mine the local Japanese bookstores have great craft books. So, I went to Sanseido that's inside the local Mitsuwa supermarket. I came back with a book on ribbon embroidery, a cross stitch rose pattern book, and a book on how to tie Obi sashes. I didn't get the book on Japanese embroidery, or the embroidery book on Disney characters, or the book on Hello Kitty stitching pattern, or the book on Monogram embroidery, or the book on Japanes silk screening, or the floral cross stitch book. I'm glad I didn't hit Book Off or the bookstore inside Marukai Gardena or else I would be super broke. On top of that, I went and spent fifty dollars on getting the flosses for the Peking Opera patterns from DMC China and the Tatty Teddy pattern that I have. I also decided to make a peacock tail for my daughter so I got four yards of deep green shimmery crepe. Now, I just need sit down and design the individual peacock eyes I'm going stitch on my daughter's peacock tail.
My name is faerydragonet. I have an addiction and I don't feel the need to stop.

| I had a little S.E.X. last week. :D | |

| Yes! I have been wanting this kit Swan Love ever since I saw it in a Herrschner's catalog earlier this year. It was out of stock when I called them... My LNS owner has been hard at work, finding the designer, trying to get distribution info. FINALLY! She sent me a link to DesignWorks and I was able to order from them. (I'd been on back order with another company for months!) Yay! ::does happy dance:: | |
|
| serenia posted a link to some of Maxine Gadd's work on Happy Hobbits the other day. & I got around to browsing the site... Just ordered myself Always Together & Little Foxes. Getting all the thread should be a chore & a half, since that's not really my forté. I've always done kits that have everything shoved together for you -- this is going to be quite the experience! The tiger one is 14"x19", so I'm pretty much asking for it. Once I finish this year's round of Christmas gifts, I plan on starting it & am hoping&praying that I can get it done by July 9th, 2008. & just bought Purrfect Poppies as a personal treat to add to my stash, & Simplify Your Life as my brother's Christmas present. Whew. Grand total: $50. Handmade presents: priceless. =) WIP update on "Pears with Orchid" later tonight, once I finish up all my Sociology & Chemistry homework. Yay for college! - Tags:stash

| Bought a number of Zweigart pattern books recently, with some lovely patterns. I couldn't find any images from these books online, and only some very small images of the booklet fronts. So scanned some of the photos (not the actual patterns). I plan to do the poppies (not sure in what context yet, probably not a table cloth). I also plan to use the sailing alphabet to do things for my sons, both of whom are avid sailors. Not sure yet about the jewels. I love the patterns, but am not sure what context to do up a cross stitch work. http://pics.livejournal.com/xinef/gallery/0001s1d9 | |

| Hello! *waves* New member here. I've been lurking around for a while and thought I'd introduce myself. Let's see my name is Mecca and I like long walks on the beach and...oh wait, wrong community :) I have been cross stitching for almost a year now (read super newbie) and I have only finished one project. I gave it as a gift to my best friend. It was Twilight Angel. Pretty lofty start for a beginner, and I must say I wouldn't recommend it as a first project. I had such a hard time. But that being said I also learned alot and it is now away living with my friend and I don't have to look at it anymore! For my second project I am working on Tree Frog Trio. It's so great I am keeping it for myself. I'm totally in love with this design. I only have the belly, two hands, and one foot of the middle frog done so not much to show right now. When I get home I'll take some pictures (I'm at school at the moment). Finally I went out today to Michael's and bought a scroll frame for the Tree Frog piece. I had been using a hoop (same hoop I used for twilight angel), but for some reason it's being really hard on the fabric. It's a tiny frame (4" x 8") but I don't plan to do many large projects, at least for a while, so it's perfect for me! While at Michael's I spotted a perfect gift for my mom. It's Dragonfly Fantasy and she's going to love it. The kit comes with the wire, ribbon, and "explore" all ready to be stitched on plastic canvas and put together. So that's me and that was my outing today. Pleased to meet each and every one of you. -Mecca* | |

| I was having a bad day until I got the mail and found my very first stash enhancement!! | |
|
| ... bought stash. For the most part, I try to avoid purchasing anything other than frames these days. I have tons of pamphlets, magazines, and books taking up most of a bookcase. I also have a pile of kits, two zip-locs and four boxes of neatly-arranged DMC floss, and a drawerful of aida. Sometimes I just can't resist, though. About a month ago, I broke down and bought the 'Cafe by the Sea' kit I'd seen someone here working on. I also got a tiger needlepoint kit because the tiger was just so cute. Never mind that I've never attempted needlepoint. This morning I slipped again. I stopped by the CharlesCraft site on a whim. Big mistake. They have overstock fabric in a myriad of beautiful discontinued colors. I bought some Wisteria, Terracotta, Lilac, Cameo Rose, and Old Gold, as well as a 12-piece variety pack of 6"x6" squares. There's something wrong with me. I have fabric, and lots of it... Of course, not in these lovely colors. (sighs) I guess I'm just an unrepentant cross stitcher. They say confession is good for the soul. Well, I've confessed. Now - back to stitching. | |
|
| YAY! I've finally finished Roman's name for his stocking - despite the dreaded DMC metallics! I really love the finished product, just don't look too close lol. A pic is behind the cut, as is a pic of some new stash! Woohoo! My husband and I have a rule in our house, that if one of us spends money on their hobby, then the other gets the spend the same amount, so if we want something and can't afford for the other to spend the same amount of cash, then we have to wait till we can. It's worked well for us so far, especially this week cos I got $150 to spend! | |
|
| Oh dear...
I just had to get some of the Christmas stash my local needlework shop (they know who they are!) showed me a couple of weeks ago if you remember reading my last post.
"Oh we've just had a fresh delivery" they smile pleasingly at me before I wander casually to take a look and start buying some rubber stamps and beautiful paper. I have to start making the cards this weekend as well otherwise people in other parts of the world will not get my hand crafted cards until the beginning of next year.
What is worse is that further down the street is a sci-fi/fantasy shop too and I ended up spending my money there too! And further too is two leading music stores. What is a poor girl to do? Answers on a postcard would be helpful in no more than ten words.
There's a paper die-cut machine for less than £30 I want too - except it's not out until the 4th August. Patience is a lost virtue with me am afraid.
|
| Its been a long time since I posted last. Kinda been on a break from stitching... not enough time and just needed a little break. After our trip to Florida a couple of weeks ago, I'm back at it! There's a LNS I visited last year and this year I went prepared with extra $$. Only one of the charts I bought was for someone else. The rest are all for me. The best part is the owner tries to put in specialty fabrics and buttons/beads with each chart should they call for it. Clever marketing ploy if you ask me LOL I couldn't resist buying the fabric too since it went so well with the chart. I'm saving up already for next year... there were so many things I could have bought... ( Read more... ) |
