This is a community to share your cross stitch works with other interested people. We're also here to help with any embroidery questions you have!

The moderators for this community are [info]bekki_n, [info]cathouse_blues and [info]emohdee - please be aware that you can contact any of us by emailing bekki_n and cathouse_blues at livejournal dot com and siran underscore drauka at yahoo dot com

Although this community is dedicated to cross-stitch, please don't feel that you have to stick to cross stitch! Other types of embroidery or similar crafts are welcomed.

Please however, go to the LJ FAQ for all Livejournal questions.

************

There are only a few rules here: Cut Tag any pictures, don't advertise things and don't share copyrighted material.

Pictures of your work are welcome, however I do ask that you use lj cut tags (go to the FAQ and livejournal specific tags section for help).

Don't advertise things includes advertising your auctions. If you want to advertise a community, use LJ's official page at [info]community_promo. If you'd like to organise a swap, please feel free and if you're giving stuff away, please only request payment for postage. Failure to follow these rules will result in your post being removed.

Don't share copyright material: Most, though not all, kits, charts and patterns have a statement reading something like "permission granted to copy/photocopy for personal use." "Personal use" means so you can write on it, mark it up, use highlighter, whatever – usually so you don't damage the original – but it does not mean you can give away or sell photocopies, scans, electronic files or other copies of the product for someone else's "personal use".

It's fine to post an image of the product (behind an lj-cut), or a link on where to find it, but please do not post that you will share a chart or pattern, nor links to "sharing sites". The moderators will remove such posts or comments, and those who post them will receive a warning the first time. Repeated offense will result in banning from [info]cross_stitch.

NOTE: Please be kind to your fellow members who may be under eighteen or who may read the community at work and restrict your icons to a "G" rating. If you have any question about where your icon might fall, please feel free to contact a moderator.

Hello.  Hope you are all enjoying your Wednesday evenings.

Thought I'd post a couple of things.  Firstly my MSAL.  Don't click on it if you haven't finished it or spoilers etc :-)

MSAL  )

I am just hoping I have enough material to finish it :-S

Here is my latest WIP.

I've been super-busy this week, and only had time this morning to take a picture of the second part of my MSAL. I haven't re-done the border yet. I figured I'd wait until we get the third section.

MSAL )

I've also been making some progress on the Joan Elliott Zodiac picture I've been stitching during my breaks at work. In typical Koryuu-fashion, I've making changes. In the original pattern, the moon is the same color as the sun. In my picture, this is not to be: I changed the moon to shades of silver-grey. I'm now working on the woman's skirt. Once I get that done, all I'll have left is the border - which in all likelihood will have some adjustments made, as well.

2nd-Oct-2008 09:50 pm - Red Hat WIP and replacement MSAL 1&2 .
stitchery
I finally got a decent picture of the MSAL and also one of Red Hat Celebration. The Red Hat piece was suggested by my mom for a Christmas present for my aunt. This is the second time I've stitched it. This time, however, I replaced the white 14-count aida with antique white 28-count linen from Charles Craft. The MSAL photo shows the colors a little better and it's not fuzzy. Yay!

Just as a restatement, the fabric for the MSAL is a 32-count hand-dyed linen called "antique" with Weeks Dye Works Mother's Day overdyed floss.

Two apologies go with this: I got started late and the photo is a bit fuzzy. I'm having picture issues tonight. I couldn't get the pics of my other WIP to come out at all. For this one, I'm using 32-count linen in a color just called "antique" and Weeks Dye Works Mother's Day floss.

I'll try again later to see if my camera will consent to behave and might replace the photo then.

Here is my full set. I don't think the colors came out as well as when my daughter scanned it, but, I guess she has some sort of trick. I always seem to get these things wrong.

My take on the MSAL parts 1 & 2. Stitched on 14 ct Oatmeal Aida with floss left over from a kit.

Pardon the flash, it's washed out the colors a bit.

ETA: Additional projects:

As it was a very rainy and dreary weekend, I stitched this weekend. Mainly I decided it would be a good time to start on some X-mas stuff so I dug out my bag of ornaments.

I selected these two to start stitching. )

violentsocks, librarygasm, belle
I am so sorry. I made a mistake when transcribing the pattern. The border is the only thing I messed up that I can find. The corner is supposed to be made of 10 (ten) stitches, not 11. The rest is the same, V's of 5. It matches the other side.

Thanks go to my Mom for catching this and telling me, "I think you messed up something, Heather."

Again, I'm really sorry, ladies.

Sorry the light pink doesn't show very well.  I am loving this floss.  Did some research, and it comes from the 60's.

I love that this is such a fast stitch because you have such a sense of accomplishment. Or maybe it is just my recent BAP obsession :) It is also a treat to work with over 50 other talented stitchers on this project :)

At last I have finished the first part!  I really hate being ill - all this time and so out of it I couldn't see to stitch.  Hooray for getting better.

This is my MSAL.  It's done on pink evenweave that I found in my box of bits.  The thread is some old thread that my Step Mother bought for me in a Charity shop.  I don't know how old it is but it came in boxes of 20 skeins.  The thread is by the side of it.

Finally! This was fast too - only about an hour and 15 mns - wow!
This is a terrible picture, sorry, but it is night and bad lighting...

I'm finding this just way too cool.

I knew I would be one of the last to show the first part of my MSAL, but still -

I am doing it on a 20 ct linen evenweave, 2 over 1, with the floss the color of milk chocolate.
25th-Sep-2008 11:25 am - MSAL Part 1

This is my output . I will try a better pic next time:(

White 14count fabric, and maroon color floss... I have put variegated floss for the text, but most likely that cannot be figured out in this pic.

My take on the MSAL - week 1.  I'm using unknown DMC floss in shades of gold on a dark-almost denim blue aida (18ct.)  I'm loving it!   Thank you for organizing this [info]shadowspun !

7th-Sep-2008 02:32 pm - MSAL list
violentsocks, librarygasm, belle

Okay, here's my list of the people who've signed up for the MSAL.  If your name is not on the list, email me at DevonShea5 at aol dot com and I'll include you.  If I'm not using your LJ id, let me know.  The pieces will be sent out as .pdf forms every two weeks starting next Sunday, September 14.  There are only six parts, so the last piece of the pattern will be sent out on November 23rd.

In case anyone missed the original posting, it's a whimsy-type, folk-artish freebie from Blackbird Designs.  The whole pattern is 92 high by 75 wide.  It can be stitched using any color fabric or thread, or even any kind/count of fabric (aida or evenweave).  It shouldn't really matter too much.  I'm going to use autumn colors while the sample is done in variegated blues.

Also, I'm still taking names if you want to join in.  Just email me.  In fact, if anyone decides to join later, I'll still have the parts so you can catch up.

So, here's the list:
Edited to reduce space on the main page... )
26th-Aug-2008 09:25 pm - MSAL
violentsocks, librarygasm, belle
Well, now that the Stitching Olympics are over, I'll start taking names for the MSAL.  It's a folk-art piece from Blackbird Designs, just to warn anyone that hates that style.  It's small, 92 high by 75 wide and was designed to be done in one color.  If you wish to participate, email me at Devon Shea 5 at aol dot com .  I'll start sending out the parts in the middle of September, about Sunday the 14th.

As I said, it's small, each piece being about 40x30 and not solid stitching.  So, what do you guys think about me sending the pieces out weekly?  There are six parts.  Or would you prefer every two weeks?

If you'd prefer to hold off on this for a little longer, let me know.

... at all.  I'm just wondering about the Mystery Stitch-Along that sounded like it was in the works a little while ago.  Is that still happening?  Has it started and I've missed the boat?  I'm just curious.
