Some questions
Hey everyone, just back with a couple of questions!

I was just looking through my Wreath of All Seasons chart (as I bought it from someone, minus kit), and I'm highly confused over the threads...

I thought at first it would be DMC since it was a Dimensions kit...but the codes are all different.

For example...

White is 11001
Yellow is 12293

Does anyone have any idea of what brand of threads these are? This also might seem like a stupid question...but if I just go to my local craft store and grab the DMC thread for...say Yellow, and only buying by shade description (not code)...would it still be as good?

Oh and what count would the linen equivalent of 18 count Aida be? I've tried to find a conversion chart online but it has evaded me thus far!

Cheers

Double the Aida count for a linen count because you usually use two over two. So to get the look of 18 count Aida, you want to use 36 count linen.

Dimensions kits use their own thread, not DMC, so those numbers are Dimensions own code. I don't know of anyplace where you can buy Dimensions thread outside of a kit. However, there is a conversion chart here. Good luck!

Thanks a lot! That was exactly what I needed! Now I can go purge some money on some more DMC thread!

Yeah. I actually recognized it and it's SO cute as an icon. :) I just grabbed a dragon I stitched for my icon (too lazy to do anything but reply via email at the moment) that came out okay when shrunk.... but that's REALLY neat. :)

i always believed the floss in the dimension
kits to be anchor thread. but i don't know
the validity of that.
it's just that i was shopping for cross stitching
stuff on a korean website i saw a dimension chart
that i bought as a kit and that chart called
for anchor thread. so i just assumed...

Dimensions charts come with instructions pertaining to either DMC or Anchor floss. Dimensions kits come with their own floss, sometimes in colors that Dimensions custom-dyes, so conversions to other brands may not always be *exact*. Sometimes Dimensions will release a design as both a kit and a chart, though it is rare that they will be the exact same design; there will usually be a subtle difference between the two. For example, the Oriental Butterfly kit and the Oriental Butterfly chart.
