Just finished a baby sampler for my friends baby! She gave birth at 2.50am this morning, so I finished off the lettering when I got home from work.

The back stitching on the blanket was the hardest part - they drew the lines in dots, rather than lines, but because the dots aren't all meant to fill up, it was impossible! I just made up most of it as I went along :P

And yes, my friends baby *was* 9 pounds 1 ounce when he was born! And I triple checked the spelling of his name.

Hopefully I'll be able to frame it so that you can't see the threads at the back - it was way too complicated to hide them all properly!

Does anyone have the chart Mild Menagerie by Cross My Heart Inc.? The color key lists DMC 179 as a color (the symbol is a little black shamrock, it's the first one in the list), but that color doesn't exist. I've sent an email to the company, but was just curious to see if anyone had a "correct" version.

Edit: Ok, the company just got back to me. The correct color number is DMC 779, in case anyone else runs into this problem. The company rep. said that the older patterns have the error but the newer ones do not.

I've been lurking here for some time now reading everyone's entries, admiring your WIPs and making a few comments. I thought I would post a picture of the first piece I ever did. It was a birthday gift for my brother and it immediately addicted me to cross-stitching.
