284Z replacement suggestions.
I'm working on the Buttnernut Road "Once Upon a Time" pattern, which calls for DMC's 284Z gold metallic. I've started on the stitches requiring it a couple of times, only to frog all of them because I really hate the way the 284Z unravels. What suggestions do you guys have for another gold metallic to replace it?

I'm doing the baby in a tree butternut road one and I had no clue what 284z even was. I found this link where the artist explains easier to work with metallics.

That is a great page of tips. Thank you. My Google-fu completely failed me today.

Have you tried looping it onto the needle, like this tip for blending filament? I find it keeps it from unraveling.

That's a great idea! Thank you! Blending filaments and metallics are always the bits that make me curse like a sailor on projects that require them.

Ohhhhh, DMC Metallic was the bane of my existence while I was doing L&L's Celtic Christmas. Hate hate hate!

I've started using Kreinik braid instead - it looks just as good, and it's infinitely easier to work with!

I had been thinking of the Kreinik when I went to a LCS and they had a couple big racks full of Kreinik of all sorts.

I’ve only used Krienik thread, and it worked well?

I love Petite Treasure braid by Rainbow Gallery. PB01. Using two strands.

I think it's working pretty well!!
