Intro
Hello! *waves*

New member here. I've been lurking around for a while and thought I'd introduce myself.

Let's see my name is Mecca and I like long walks on the beach and...oh wait, wrong community :)

I have been cross stitching for almost a year now (read super newbie) and I have only finished one project. I gave it as a gift to my best friend. It was Twilight Angel. Pretty lofty start for a beginner, and I must say I wouldn't recommend it as a first project. I had such a hard time. But that being said I also learned alot and it is now away living with my friend and I don't have to look at it anymore!

For my second project I am working on Tree Frog Trio. It's so great I am keeping it for myself. I'm totally in love with this design. I only have the belly, two hands, and one foot of the middle frog done so not much to show right now. When I get home I'll take some pictures (I'm at school at the moment).

Finally I went out today to Michael's and bought a scroll frame for the Tree Frog piece. I had been using a hoop (same hoop I used for twilight angel), but for some reason it's being really hard on the fabric. It's a tiny frame (4" x 8") but I don't plan to do many large projects, at least for a while, so it's perfect for me!

While at Michael's I spotted a perfect gift for my mom. It's Dragonfly Fantasy and she's going to love it. The kit comes with the wire, ribbon, and "explore" all ready to be stitched on plastic canvas and put together.

So that's me and that was my outing today. Pleased to meet each and every one of you.

Welcome! Good for you starting on something hard - maybe not recommended, but now everything else will be a lot more fun! :-D

I know that the frogs are already super fun. I loved getting to the pink of the middle frog's hands, so colorful. I will never do another project with beads, well, at least for a long time!

Oh man, she did not go quietly. I will wait a long time before I attempt a piece with beads and sequins again.

Hello, and welcome!
I love the frogs!
I nearly started off with a ridiculously big project - it's such a temptation! The first cross stitch magazine I bought had a chart for Circe Invidiosa by JW Waterhouse, and I fell in love with it - it's my second favourite painting of all time. I'm glad I didn't start with that, in the end!

Wow, that would have taken me forever. As it was twilight angel took a year! Have you gone back and done Invidiosa now that you are a veteran x-stitcher?

Not yet - I've acquired in the meantime several million other charts and kits. I'm likely to get through the kits first, since I don't have to buy extra threads and such.

I'm impressed that Twilight Angel was your first project! I've been thinking that might be the next thing I buy at Michaels. I'm tempted by the Tree Frog Trio, too.

You would have thought that I'd give up, but no, I had to finish it even if it did take me forever. Hopefully the frogs will go faster. I can't wait to see how adorable they are in real life :)

I definitely wouldn't recommend a Dimensions kit for a first-time project, but I'm sure you learned a lot.

My first project was bigger and more elaborate than a beginner should attempt, too. We're nothing if not over-achievers, we cross stitchers! ^_^

Anyway, welcome!
