Corrected colour key of 4 seasons tree pattern?
Maybe you can help me??? I just sent an email to the magazine editors, but thought I would also post here, just in case one of you can assist me... When it comes to cross stitch, patience is not my strong point, its a wonder I can actually stitch! LOL! :o)

Here is my problem... I have everything ready to start stitching a pattern by Maria Diaz from Cross Stitch Crazy Issue 76, its a set of 4 patterns showing a tree in each of the seasons, I am using this pattern for a RR with [info]bekki_n, [info]whinging_pom and whinging_pom's mum - cross stitch brings the different generations together! Anyway, I am getting sidetracked, back to my problem, the first colour I picked to start stitching was clearly wrong, I wanted to start on “summer” (the one with the swan), starting on the lower left hand side of the pattern which is a pinkish kinda colour, this has the symbol “$”, the colour key says it should be 3371, which is a very a dark brown, clearly not the correct colour for this area of the pattern…

I was wondering if any of you lovely ladies have stitched this pattern. If so, could you share the corrected colour key with me? Not the pattern, just the correction to the colour key.

EDIT to ADD: I received a reply from the publisher, 3371 is a mistake, it should be 3771!

This probably helps not at all, but the lower left corner appears to be autumn, which does seem to have more browns in it. Summer has the swan?

oh, oops, I was looking at the "big picture" and suddenly worrying about my seasonal recognition, so, um, please ignore my comments here then :-)

LOL, it was a valid comment... So thank you for pointing it out!!! I can see exactly what you meant. I am home with a migraine and really not very able to articulate my thoughts at the moment, so I am glad you pointed it out. I am sure others would have looked at it and thought exactly the same. I like that you looked at the forrest and I was looking at the tree! :o)

I've had a look on my copy and noticed anothe rerror too... Autumn has the same symbol for 3822 as spring and summe rhave for 744. I'd have thought they would have used a different symbol, so should it be 3822 or 744? Sorry to add more to your worries...

You are right... I just looked at those 2 and they are very similar. What I will do before I send this out is that I shall check each colour to ensure they all make sense. A little frustrating. Hope the mag people answer!

Do you have time to write the editors and ask for a correction? Or is there possibly one already on the website or something?

I looked throught the website looking for corrections and wrote to the editors... it was the first thing I did. Waiting for an answer, so I thought I would try here, just in case someone else had already tried it.

I was thinking maybe they made a mistake with one of the numbers. Looking at it, it could be 3771 - which is a pinky tawny a colour (I've used a lot of in skin colours.) Maybe you should find a DMC colour chart and look up colours like 3771, 3372, 3317 and that sort of thing to see if it's just a printing error.
