Letter from the Editor
Let me count the reasons why I haven’t stitched for almost 3 weeks... work, heat, football, work, heat, football, sick, work, heat, travel, work, tired. Oh and did I mention work. Needless to say I am so tired and hot I hit a stitching slump. And no I am not going to meet my own goal. From what I have been reading a few of us aren't going to make it... It seems some of us under estimated our current commitments and for others the priorities in our lives changed. And that is OK... I am sure each one of the Team Members that doesn't make her goal has stitched at least 1 extra stitch than they would have normally stitched, that has to count for something. This is what I did in the first 9 days, I selected the colours to enhance the feeling of an old style sampler:

As some of you might have noticed I also haven't been online. My apologies for abandoning all the World Cup team members to their own devices.

In 2 solid sessions I have scrolled through the past 3 weeks of posts scanning for World Cup postings. Let me tell you it was as exciting as watching one of the football matches. There were ups and downs and then the goals starting hitting the net!

Congratulations to the first World Cup Winner!
Special mention goes to [info]ahappythought, she finished her goal after just 1 week! read more and then she just kept on going OLÉ, OLÉ, OLÉ!!!

List of World Cup Champions with 4 days to go!
If you have been reading the posts over the last few weeks then you will certainly have noticed we have several winners already! These are the ones I found during my quick scrolling through all the posts... if I missed your entry my apologies, just point me in the right direction and I shall correct my mistake! Without further ado I present the winners so far!

If you counted our champions you will have noticed we already have more than 11 Winners and that means... How many of you remember the original rules??? If you do you will have guessed it already! [info]cross_stitch has just won the World Cup as a community! Congratulations to all the team members, winners and spectators who have encouraged those of us crazy enough to put our hands up for a month of stitching under pressure... All I can say is WE WON!!!!

With only 4 days to go until the end of the World Cup... the big question is How many more of us will reach our goals?

Yay us!

And please count me among those winners, too? I met my goal a little while ago - I posted about it here.

Thanks so much for organizing this,
[info]chanda_m! I hope the heat and work and other stress get better soon!

Yay for you guys. I didn't meet my goal (I know it was too big now), but I did get a lot done, and nearly finished a little Christmas ornament (while I was at work), so I did get something accomplished. Got to the end, and choked. Much like Germany *GASP*

:) :) :)

Thank you so much for running this. It's been so much fun to check my flist and to see what's been started, finished, and worked on, and the amount of knowledge that's been passed around. I'm looking forward to the next large sporting event that comes along :)

Is it too late to rework/restate our goal? I realized about ten days ago that there's no way I can finish my wedding piece, but I never got around to posting an update (whoops :)). If we can, I've changed mine to finshing 1/2 of the wedding piece, plus working on the UFO. Thanks :)

Hope you are able to catch up on the MSAL!

Unless I enter into some odd kind of time warp or suddenly don't have to work, I stand no possibility of reaching my goal.
