| Photo aggravation |
[Oct. 10th, 2008|10:14 am] |
I really like how these eyes turned out, except for one thing. If you look closely, you can see the lens of my camera in the pupils.
Is there a way to photograph shiny things without a reflection? |

| Villain #10 - Gargamel |
[Oct. 10th, 2008|12:02 am] |
Gargamel from The Smurfs! Gargamel is some kind of wizard guy, who is more like an alchemist really, and sometimes he wants to eat smurfs and sometimes he needs them to make gold. I don't know really. But he sure hates those guys! His cloak and hair makes me think that he is some kind of ex-monk. He got kicked out of the monastery and then had to go live in a cave. POOR GARGAMEL! And now for the materials post I promised! have had many people ask me what I am using to make these villain pieces, so here is the answer to their queries! ( All the goods under the cut! ) |

i had a crummy day at work. but i'm making it a better night by spending some time making a cake (for mary's birthday) and a pie from my grandmother's recipe. i'm going to attempt my own crust.
the maple trees are changing and this is refreshing to me but very stressful to brian. i'm looking for the medium in everything right now. in and outside of myself. i want to stop passively pawning off my time and use it for myself for a change. i feel like i realize this periodically and reword it each time. |

| I am weak. |
[Oct. 9th, 2008|01:00 pm] |
Last night sucked ass. I think Simon was up from 11-2, nursing, crawling around, getting his diaper changed. I'm T I R E D. I think I even said something in the middle of the night about how I wished we had a crib so we could just put him in it and go to sleep. I was thinking about the merits of "cry it out" and every other thing I've read that basically said put the baby in his room and come back in the morning. HA! Maybe if he had his own room this would be something to actually attempt. Anyway, Erik managed to get him to sleep and we were all happier. Thank god.
In other news, my sister, kikifitz, and I will be running a 5k on Christmas. So that means I need to actually get out there and train. I haven't been running much since 2006! I'm really looking forward to it. I need some alone time.
The Goal: Christmas Day - Joyful 5k
The Method: The Couch to 5k! |

| Villain #9 - Yubaba |
[Oct. 9th, 2008|02:38 am] |
Something a little different for Villain #9, Yubaba from Spirited Away, in video form! I can only take short videos with my camera, so this is only the marker drawing unfortunately. But the watercolours came right after! Here is the finished version of the old gal. |

| Poor Baby |
[Oct. 8th, 2008|10:13 pm] |
Simon has diarrhea, the diaper rash to match, a runny nose, and horrible teething pain. I'm pretty sure the lentils would have been long gone by now. We didn't go to swimming class today. I hope my sweet baby gets better soon so we can go back to having fun all day. |

During last night's debate, John McCain referred to Barack Obama as "that one." That one what?
Can we skip the next debate and hold the election the first Tuesday of next week? It's time to put this POW horse out of its misery. John McCain used to crash planes and bang strippers, and now he's wandering around the stage, looking for his car keys. A lifetime in politics, obliterated at the very end by Steve Schmidt and that Palin creature. Asking himself what kind of country prefers a black guy with a name as Arabic as Mohammed Atta's to a decorated war hero. John, it this really how you want to go out? Calling Obama a terrorist behind his back and a "one" to his face? You've come this far without snapping, but you're turning into Grandpa at Christmas dinner. You don't like how any of the grandkids turned out, your dentures hurt and you're two scotches away from calling Grandma a slut. |

| Villain #8 - Count Rugen |
[Oct. 8th, 2008|12:49 am] |
Count Rugen (The six fingered man) from The Princess Bride! Inigo Montoya is one of my all time favourite characters, so It's only fair to pay tribute to the man who started him along his path of revenge! And for those of you who are fans of the movie but haven't read the book, you should go read it. It's even better than the film. I've read it so many times and I still laugh every time. |

so despite all the bullshit leading up to the show it turned out to be great. everything came together beautifully and everyone was energetic and seemed to have had a good time. our 'performance' was really fun thanks to wine & spirits. several artists made sales and a few lucky people got to see the after hours performance of Amos Oaks and his saw-playin'.
i tried something new this year and extended the show all weekend. it was an experiment. only a handful came through but they were worth it. still turned a lot of heads of passers-by.
i'm taking the rest of my month to only work on things i've previously agreed to. i can't handle anything else.
i'm also in the works of confirming an out-of-town performance of the Phonebooths show for mid-November.
and i'm working on ATCs. Artist Trading Cards. Anyone who wants to trade, let me know!

| Oops! |
[Oct. 6th, 2008|10:17 pm] |

Look at that happy baby! He enjoyed eating lentils mixed with sweet potatoes, but apparently I should have waited a few months. I'll spare you the details, but there have been a few more diaper changes today. He has a runny nose too. It could be related, or it could be his first cold. Oh well, too late now. At least he enjoyed them, right?

| Villain #7 - The Big Cheese |
[Oct. 6th, 2008|11:30 pm] |
The Big Cheese from Samurai Pizza Cats! (Check out the show's intro!) SPC is one of my all time favourite cartoons. When the show was brought over to America, none of the scripts were sent with it, so entirely new scripts were written! The show turned out so goofy and self aware. It's really awesome. And it's so much better than the original version, which doesn't happen very often with English dubs! And the name of the show is totally spelled wrong in the opening credits! A classic for the ages, I tells ya! |

| Villain #6 - The Ice King |
[Oct. 5th, 2008|09:22 pm] |
The Ice King from Adventure Time! I heard that guy is a total patoot. I was thinking today about how Cheesecake is more like pie than cake. I mean, I would associate it's texture more with pumpkin pie than a regular vanilla cake. What makes a cake a cake, or a pie a pie, exactly? |
