If you are on my mailing list, you will get one of these in your inbox.

I know, I know -- I still haven't completed my website update. Who knew writing a book of crocheted patterns would take up so much time?!?

So although I don't have anything brand new to offer you, I have 2 friends whose wares I just know you'll love. This mailer is actually a surprise for both of them -- so go to their websites, check out their yarn & patterns, and get yourself something special.

Just so y'all don't think I'm making this stuff up, here's a sneak peek at a hat & scarf pattern which will be a part of In The Loop, a collection of trendsetting crocheted clothing and accessories.

Isn't that yarn Simply Gorgeous?
It's a delicious handspun, self-striping wool blend created by Pippikneesocks. Check out her store, and get yourself some of the best handspun around.
Now that's a hat!! -- You can purchase that pattern, and many more, when you visit Croshay Design. Laura's patterns are top-notch -- try one out today!

And, if you purchase from either of these 2 wonderfully talented women, just forward me a copy of your receipt, and I'll send you a $5-off-coupon, good for either the Weird Mirror Yarn Club or Josi Hannon Madera Designs. It's a yarn-a-licious win-win for everyone!

Peace and health to you and yours,
Josi Hannon Madera.

FO: Hobo Bag

I made the Crocheted Hobo Bag from the Lion Brand Website yesterday and today. The pattern calls for Cotton Thick and Quick, which is discontinued (besides, I'm not a huge Lion Brand fan), so I used two strands of Peaches and Cream held together. The pattern calls for an N hook, but I didn't have one, so I used a K hook.

This is actually a really cool pattern. The bag is worked in one piece through until halfway through the strap, then you join the yarn on the other side of the bag and crochet the other half of the strap, joining the two in the middle.

Now, before you look at the pictures, keep in mind that I did absolutely no planning for this whatsoever...I used what Peaches and Cream I had lying around, which turned out to be 1/2 a ball of brown, 1/2 a ball of hot pink, 1/4 of a ball of variegated pink and 3/4 a ball of black. Luckily, those all held out to the end, because the only other color I have is variegated green and it just would not have gone well with the other colors. As it was, I ended up with an interesting color scheme...you'll see.

current mood: artistic

Here's my latest crochet WIP made out of Caron's Simply Soft Brites. This is also from Happy Hooker, and I'm stoked that I finally know how to make granny squares...that took a lot of practice for me! It's going to be a bitch sewing these together! I'm dreading that day (week...maybe month).
