I made an adipose amigurimi for the birthday of a son of one of my flisters. Here are my photos: (DVD case for scale) The arms came out kind of too wide, and I dunno what I did, but I still think it's cute and the recipient loved it! Photos of the birthday boy and his amigurumi here. Tags: amigurumi, look what i made

Little Ghostie
I wasn't liking the free patterns I was finding, so I free handed this little guy. Not too bad for a first attempt. I mostly like that I started with his mouth and worked around. I just don't know what to do with him now. I might make a few more and some bats and make a Halloween mobile. Other then that I'm stumped. Tags: i made this, look what i made, what i made

Baby hat
I made a hat to go with the booties that I made before: ( Hat! ) I kinda made it up as I went along; I didn't really mean it to be this shape, but I quite like it now! I was thinking about adding a pom pom maybe? I think I started with 5 chain, then slip stitched it together aand worked 10 SC/DC (US/UK) into the loop, then did 2 stitches in each stitch for the next round, then 1 stitch, 2 stitches, repeated for the next round, adding 1 stitch to the sequence each round until I was repeating "1, 1, 1, 1, 2" (if that makes sense). Then I just did 1 in each to extend it, don't remember how many rounds I did though, but got a bit bored so I did a couple of "stripes" of DC/TR in between. Then for the ruffly edge I just did 2 DC/TR in each SC/DC for 1 round, then 1 in each just to make it a bit longer. It's definitely a conversation starter, especially when you do your crochet on the bus! :) I didn't write much for the booties; it was late and I was just so relieved to have finished them! Thanks to everybody that helped, that pattern was hard to fathom! In the end, the back extension (to make a casing for the ribbon to run through) ended up at an angle to the original chain, which I wasn't expecting! So, instead of the chain running down the middle of the sole, it runs diagonally! Oh well, I don't think it makes that much of a difference, it's not really something that will be looked at! I wonder whether it's just me, or if the pattern was written wrong? Hmm, what shall I make now?! I don't feel right without a project on the go... ;) Tags: look what i made Current Location: Leeds, England

Fingerless Gloves
I finished a pair of fingerless gloves last night following the design from T he Cool Girl's Guide To Crochet by Nicki Trench. It started the project on Thursday and finished last night. I decided to not make the ruffle for the end of the gloves and left it that way. Tags: i made this, look what i made Current Mood: awake

Doilies
I just finished making two red, white and blue doilies for my grandmothers. Now I have to wash them, re-block and starch them before I can mail them off. I think they will be pleased to get them. The pictures are kind of big so beware... ( Read more... )and here is a black doily I made around November 2006. It's just shy of 18 inches diameter. I think if I stretched it again, a little more properly it might be a full 18 in across. I'm really please with how this came out. ( Read more... )P.S. Is there any way we could get a "doilies" tag? I also think a "crochet icons" tag would be cool because I know there have been posts like that, but I can never find them after the fact. And a tag that has something to do with crocheting with plastic bags and t-shirts would be awesome. Tags: i made this, look what i made, what i made

New things!
Just thought I would share the few things I've made in my (oh-so-precious) free time... and my first foray into Amigurumi... The baby booties were for a co-worker and her premature baby. They were really easy, and I could have kept going with more pairs. The owls were for a different co-worker who is obsessed with owls. She loved them, because she never got crocheted owls before. Both patterns were found on Ravelry. They can be found in my projects here. ( Booties! )( Owlets! ) Tags: amigurumi, baby stuff, look what i made

Cable Hat
I started and restarted this hat several times, and it wasn't until the last couple of rows that I finally got the cables right. But my son loves it and that's what counts Hat pattern here and brim here. Thanks for looking! ETA: When I added the brim, I just did a row of sc around before starting the brim from the pattern. Yay! FOs!
Remember this post, where I asked for help with a baby poncho? Well, I took the suggestion of not connecting till the 2nd or 3rd line, and then slip-stitching it later. I also changed the pattern up just a bit, using half-double crochet (I like that stitch, it's so simple & pretty!), and ran with it. ( Here's the result, as modeled by my adorable niece Jalea: ) Tags: baby stuff, look what i made Current Mood: accomplished

omg, I have a finish!
I can't believe it, but I actually have a finish. This is my first major finish (i.e. one that doesn't involve ipod cozies) in over a year. *cough* Coincidentally I started this project about a year ago! This is a lap afghan from the Leisure Arts booklet Afghans By The Pound, the Daisy Garden pattern. It's a christmas 2007 (oh yes, I am *awesome*) gift for my sister. The yarn is Caron Simply Soft (cheap and cozy!) in blues and white. I really like how it turned out, but this was honestly boring to stitch, and took forever since it was stitch clusters instead of straight DC. I can't tell you how glad it's finished. I haven't been able to work on anything else with this project hanging over my head. Thanks for looking! Tags: look what i made
